I'll preface this by saying that, yes, you have to go the Gorge. BUT

Be careful what you wish for with this "sunny day" business. The Gorge is in the middle of a desert. The first year I went down, there was a thin layer of cloud most of the day, and temps weren't too ridiculous. The second time was a different story.. it was fucking SCORCHING hot!.. we had camped the night before, and from about 10am to when we bailed outta there at 10pm, we got completely fried. It seemed like most of the kids there were more used to it than we were for whatever reason, but the 3 of us spent most of the afternoon trying to cope with a severe case of heatstroke. I remember drinking water constantly and feeling like I wasn't getting any less thirsty.. by 4 we were just begging for the sun to lose its intensity...

The next morning (back home) I awoke to feel something wet on my pillow.. as it turns out, I hadn't put enough suncreen up on the temples of my head. I had blisters leaking from my fucking skull!!!

I spent the next couple of days with my head wrapped up in bandages like I was a downed WWII pilot.

I guess the moral of the story is .. be prepared for such things if you end up going!

That is by far- the most disturbing true story I have read today, and I've been reading about Kurdish oppression and colonization.

I'll be careful...

Britney Spears Onyx Hotel tour in Seattle
No Doubt/Garbage/Distillers in Seattle
Silverchair in Seattle (1999?)
The Roots @ Plaza of Nations
BEP @ Richard's (Thurs night show)

There are so many more like Incubus, Fiona Apple, Holly McNarland, Bif Naked, more silverchair shows, Hole/Marilyn Manson, everclear... Dear lord, how do you choose..?

Pennywise @ Warped Tour 97 - I was pulled out of the audience and sang Bro's Hymn on stage with them, proceeded to watch the rest of the set from back stage, and met them, as well as descendants, and Face to Face. It was great!

The Cure @ QE Theatre - They haven't been back, and probably never will.

Any of the 18 billion Sarah McLachlan concerts I have been to. She rocks.

And honorable mention goes to the last Snoop Dogg tour just cause I missed up in smoke, and well he just rocked it. Even though he only played for an hour.

Oooooooooops - edited for Patrick!

NiN - Fragility... Holy Fuck (tm)

Edgefest '98... with Creed on the small stage touring for their first album, which was their only good one... being 15 and nearly getting crushed in the mosh pit

KoRn - Issues... Just for seeing all of GM place even up to the nosebleed seats moshing

I've seen SO many good shows, but the ones that top the list are Marilyn Manson at the Pacific Coliseum in 99, then again when he came to the QE theatre (though it wasn't as theatrical as the coliseum), and every single time I went to see silverchair (4 out of the 5 times they've been here).

probably one of vancouver's BEST hip hop shows ever
check the line up:
- dilated peoples
- jurassic 5
- beat junkies
- breakestra
and it was everyone from each crew up in there @ richards on richards
- beat junkies vs breakestra
(4 turntables and an sp-1200 vs live instruments and they both sounded the same!??)
- j5 with the finger pianos and their kazoos
- cut chemist and nu-mark with their rubber band and turntable cover beat making routine
- not 1 but 2 encores, closing 45(?) minutes after 2am (this was years before 3am and when 2am closes were super strict)
- breakestra - a live funk breaks band??
- cut chemist on drums, rhettmatic on keys and...(who else was with them for their impromptu set)

no one on fnk was there?

- quannum tour, one of the best shows i got to open for!! whoop whoop
that's when lyrics born first found out he was my twin (he clearly bit ma style)
