ZED Shatner mash-up = Mac Mini

I was watching ZED on CBC (it's on at 11:25pm weeknights) and they have a mash-up contest.

Make a cool mix of these 2 crappy William Shatner tunes and you could win a Mac Mini. Contest runs until March 4.

They have downloads of the music bits and a demo version of ACID software that can be used. You can use other software but only the supplied music samples.

does anyone else think this whole "mash-up" trend is getting out of hand?

And this is coming from a "mash-up" dj.

I'm still of the opinion that these things should be done mainly with 2 records and 2 turntables rather than computers...

^^ Especially since mtv is using the word "mash-up" to sell cd's and a tv show, i'd say yes it is.

I've actually been pretty agianst the term "mash-up" from the beginning, but it's hard to fight the labels :(

There's quite a number of entries already, some are very funny! They have a few other competitions going, including a Chemical Bros.

acidplanet.com has these free "8pack" sample downloads but only one a week, there must be a big stash of them somewhere. The Acid Express program is nice but only 10 tracks.

The guy that won the Audi car for the David Bowie remix contest wasn't even finished high school.
