Yes the vocal is by Aesop Rock. Crooked is easily my favorite breaks tune from 04'... have no idea how it didn't win best track at the Breakspoll Awards!?.... Oh well I guess winning best album for "You Can Be Special Too" isn't too shabby.

Wasn't Crooked on Freeland's '03 Essential Mix? I thought it was an '03 track...

freeland gets everything a year before everyone else... as do most big name dj's. Being Marine Parade's owner had a lil influence on that as well

Yes Crooked was on Freeland's essential mix in 03'.... it was also on James Lavelle's Global Underground Barcelona Mix released in 02', without the Aesop Rock vocal.
The tunes been done (obviously) for quite sometime, the added Aesop Rock vocal came later, and due to Marine Parade going into bankrupcy for a brief period in the summer of 04', the Evil Nine album was delayed for a few months to the fall of 04'. After the album was released it FINALLY came out as a single, after 2 years of being done!
