Riding on the wave of buzz from their recent Grammy nomination, THE CRYSTAL METHOD (Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland) will release their new mix album COMMUNITY SERVICE II April 5 on ULTRA Records/3 AM. Exclusive remixes by THE CRYSTAL METHOD of songs by The Doors ("Roadhouse Blues"), New Order ("Bizarre Love Triangle") and Smashing Pumpkins ("1979") are featured with some of their own original productions ("Kalifornia" featuring Kevin Beber, "Starting Over" [Elite Force remix], "Bound Too Long" [Hyper remix]) and tracks from the duo’s favorite break-beat producers like UNKLE ("Reign"), Evil Nine ("We Have the Energy") and Uberzone ("Octopus").
The pair will embark on a national DJ tour in support of Community Service II kicking off March 20 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The trek--which already has 22 dates confirmed with more on the way--will last to the end of May, making stops at dance clubs and major electronic events across the country including the ULTRA Music Festival in Miami March 26, Mezzanine in San Francisco April 14 and Spirit in New York City May 14. Community Service II-- the second mix CD from THE CRYSTAL METHOD--is part of a brand the duo have developed that’s dedicated to bringing fans the freshest and most exciting selections in break-beat music. In addition to the mix CDs and tours (the first Community Service DJ tour took place in 2002), they continue to host "Community Service," a weekly radio show dedicated to electronic music that airs every Friday night on Los Angeles’ Indie 103.1 FM. For the March 25 edition of the show, THE CRYSTAL METHOD will tape the show live from Miami so various talents in town during the Winter Music Conference can participate in interviews and debut new music.
