NIN Current Updates

There's a 35 meg music video for "The Hand That Feeds" up on the NIN site this morning.

It looks like Trent went for a more conventional rock sound than his usual experimental-ish offerings.

even though its not really different in terms of the rock community, its different for trent, and I respect that... and though it wasn't NIN sounding per se, I actually found the song really catchy regardless...

"catchy" being the key word there...........i think that may have been what they were going for...........too bad if so

whats so bad about it? its a good song... maybe he didn't want to do another "downward spiral"...

It's kind of the exact opposite of the Fragile... which was really abstract and electronic...

ummm, not a bad song! too bad if he felt the need to disengage himself from the former. i don't know, i would never really desribe there music as 'catchy' before. it was what it was. not hating, just observing.

I get the feeling that the video that is posted online is not the official "mtv video" I think it was probably a video pieced together by Trent during rehearsals or recording. I read somewhere the producer of the video is the same guy who did one of Eminems videos, the cartoon one I think. At any rate I also read a post froma guy who was actually working on the set and he said that the video is really politically motivated.

This is his direct quote

"A conservative Bush supporter (middle age white male) has an affair with a younger woman. She gets pregnant and is forced to have an abortion. When she arrives at the abortion clinic she is forced to walk through a crowd of anti-abortion protestors. I’m not 100% but I think the wife of the bush supporter is in the crowd and splashes blood on her or something.
Other images/storylines in the video involve the following:

-A young man watches a Bush speech on tv. A picture of him in a military uniform sits next to the tv. He shakes his head at what bush is saying and reaches to turn off the tv. That’s when its revealed that his arm is missing (he has a prosthetic). Apparently he was injured while in Iraq and forgotten about by Bush.

- The wife of the bush supporter watches the bush inauguration with her husband cheering on like it’s a football game.

- The wife of the bush supporter gives her uninterested husband a lap dance in a confederate flag bikini.

- A working professional is blackmailed by men who have revealing photos of him (I’m not sure if this is the bush supporter and the photos are of his affair but it seems like a good guess).
