DRUM MACHINE(s)

Hey guys, I had a question for all of you home/producers.
I have been searching for a better Software Drum machine, what are my options for a quality program that is suitable for creating House and Breaks loops?

...also, if there are any (hardware) drummachine/samplers that are not too pricey.

thanx

IMO, Reason is good, but some things are just ghey in it. The drum machine is just crappy. Right now I am also in the conquest of finding the perfect drum machine for me.

Why use drum machines when you can do it all on the computer, in which you'll have a lot more flexibility and better quality audio.....even for live performances.....use a computer with a high quality signal processing unit, I'd recommend Logic 5, 6 or 7 (7 if you have a G4/G5/Mac Laptop), thats prolly the best set up for your dollar. Either that, or Cubase SX 2.0 for PC

Kontakt & Logic 7 = the official hottness......For easy Drum tracking with a fair bit of versitility, go for Kontakt ya.....otherwise Sample Tank 2 blew my mind when I was at Blue Wave Studios last...

thanx main, yeah i do think its better to do it on the computer(quality) it can be sampled at 32 bit right of the software, no hardware needed, but yeah i got all the info i need here in this thread. i got 2 people in the middle east looking for a cracked copy of battery and i have been looking for a cracked copy of PT L for the looooongest time but no luck. I have used reason, cubase(at a buddies), sonar(crashes alot, atleast the version i have), acid(good old days), fruity loops and Simsynth. I am still in search of many other tools to use...

Kontakt is basically just a sampler like Reasons NNXT. Kontakt is also kinda cool cuz you can do beatslicing with it too (like recycle... but recycle's way better).

For drums I'm using the Battery 2. The Battery 2 has an intuitive interface IMO and has several settings (ADSR envelopes, compression, etc). It can import rx2 files as well. When actually sequencing the drums, (I use Cubase SX2) I use a drum map instead of the standard sequencer. Battery also allows you to send different cells to different audio channels so you can add seperate FX inserts to kicks and snares etc
