for my tastes, NuTone & Calibre are high up, High Contrast as well... really been feeling Logistics stuff as well. Ray Keith seems to have been on a bit of a mean streak lately as well. From a purely technical standpoint, no one is more impressive than Pendulum, every aspect of each tune is so finely crafted... to the point that it sometimes sounds wanky to me. I'm anxious to hear some more melodic stuff from them, they are obviously supremely talented producers.

i dunno if it's just me but i can't appreciate calibre like many peeps. i find his stuff rather boring and dull. the only calibre tune i've ever liked was the jaheim remix.
i find photek rather over rated as well. just not my style. technically great, but his shit is a lil too much sometimes. |

To add to the list.. all the Violence Recording heads are putting out some quality tunes! don't forget: Tech Itch - the guy just murders all his break patterns (never boring) Cause4Concern (always been a huge fan) and producers w/ quality colaborations: I'm actualy torn b/w Chris Su & SKC or Pacific & Psidream -- just sic, sic beats every time. |

Back to the "old skool"..
SOURCE DIRECT - from their atmospheric beginnings on Certificate 18 and Source Direct Recs, to the dark brooding tunes they were known for later on. I wouldn't have been as interested in Dnb if it werent' for peeps like Source Direct. Same goes for early Danny Breaks stuff . Droppin Science was the biznez, as well as early Reinforced product, and Loxy & Ink's work as The Architex - their Incision LP is treasured, good stuff. I went through this "phase" where I was really into minimal Dnb, almost purist stuff - Teebees earliest releases on Juice Recs, German greats like CURRENT VALUE, Krust's more abstract work (True Stories, amazing piece of work), Photek of course, and then later on when Rob F tunes started showing up. I was more attracted to a sound/mood overall than specific producers, altho these names did it for me. These days : EQUINOX, Breakage, ASC, MZE, & the 0=0 vein, including names that only I would know of that work similar beats, you have to go diggin for that stuff. MFC TEAM , some of the most amazing dark DnB that I've heard, their break selections are sick - which is sayin something considering what I listen to , DAVID AKUMA's black metal dnb, haha. He's good. Oh, and KLUTE is the shit, from Certificate 18 releases onward. BONG-RA for all his diversity. HIVE, KEATON and that Universal Project angle were huge with me too. ABELCAINE from the midwest, producing Photek inspired breakcore/ minimal dnb releases (Low Res, Zhark International).. there's alot more I could say for recent stuff i listen too. MICK HARRIS of Godflesh fame producing dnb as QUOIT is also a fave. DANNY C at his most twisted and angered, hehe. Dope! I'm more into the ambience and atmospheres of most dnb i like - a mood, background details, etc. The producers just get me there. Last edited by **TORMENT**; Apr 26, 05 at 08:22 PM. |

Yeh Calyx and Pendulum are definately top shelf for me.
The whole Violence crew always doin it right, can't wait to here more Gridlok tunes. The Upbeats definately have some wicked tracks coming out, Craven Raven amoung many. Break, Fierce, Silent Witness, Noisia have also been doing some great work. Psidream's style keeps evolving, really liking his new intro track zerohour, and Pacific's stuff has always had a great groove, good stuff. I wanna see more tunes from Phace, chris su, and skc as well...! |

would anyone be down with sending me good dnb? i like listening to the stuff, but i don't know where to find it and just wanna get straight to the good shit. i'm more a breaks kinda guy myself, but i appreciate good dnb.
i spent countless hours upstairs in riverside and downstairs at the plaza listening to dnb and the only dnb sets i own are the ones i find as demo's or are given. |
