I like the sound and feel of vinyl but I use CDs cause that's I all I have for DJ equipment right now.
CDs do the job just like vinyl... and you can't really tell the difference (unless of course you're using a live sound system, and on which of course, vinyl will sound better). |

there is something that really satisfies me when i get a new record ... Cds are cool cause you can get new tunes faster and cheaper but vinyl is better in my opinion.. you have more control with vinyl than cds... well i wouldnt know that cause i havnt used cd decks before

Two words:
Black - Crack Vinyl is the most addictive substance known to man. once you get hooked you can not get off it. the bad thing is that there are no rehabilitation centres helping those of us that are addicted to the sweet sweet vinyl goodness. But hey, who said we needed help anywase? |

I remember going through this dissition when I first wanted to start dj'ing.... as soon as I picked up a vinyl record it was clear. Theres just somthing special about vinyl. More hands on and has a bit more of a feel sound to it.
However when it comes to anthems that only last a few months or making your own tunes... I dont see the problem at all. Just make sure you suport (pay) for it. |

i'm starting to really want to add a digital medium to my setup.... with cd decks, the sampler definetly gives you more room for creativity.... and many cd decks come with fx as well so you can combine that with the mixer fx. and i can play my own blends and remixes as well.
final scratch would be great as well since i love the feel of vinyl. mixing wise nothing beats vinyl no doubt. but unless you're pressing custom dubs, you're always going to be playing other peoples music. their track structures, their everything... you just hope the track is mixable in a way you can use them.. which is kinda wack. if you wanna run shit your way so you're in control of the music you're mixing up, then u'll need to step it up..... |

Hey... lets start a support group/band. It'll be like AA but with a better name than Vinylholics Anonomous. The meetings will consist of everyone bringing instruments that aren't turntables and playing them. Who's in? |

I've been ordering a lot of CD singles recently. Silver crack, me like singles :) $200 last month, it was on sale
Sometimes a few delivery hassles at the border, I pick up my stuff in the USA at a shipping place. I also buy mp3 downloads. CD singles are only available for a few months or even weeks so after the initial release on vinyl/CD is gone, the download sites are where you MIGHT find the tunes. If you are lucky - the legal download industry is just starting and lots of music is not yet available at these sites. I rip everything to mp3 and play it off my laptop. I have no problem with the quality of the mp3 format for tracks I rip myself or buy from places like BeatPort, those mp3s sound exactly like the CD. But some of the original CDs so not sound too good, probably not mastered right or overcompressed, most dance music producers are running on a low budget and don't have the cash and experience to do things better. Presumably the same producers' vinyl also has problems. I respect vinyl, but I decided long ago that I would not do vinyl since it was easy to see that road was well-worn and ending, while the digital road is just beginning. Why do the same thing as everyone else? |

i rip lots of my records and stuff, and buy a few mp3's...
i still download but only for me to listen to, if the track is super good but very rare, then i try my best to find the lable and offer them a couple of dollers for it so that i can at least feal that i had contributed to it. i play records and use my final scratch unless im playing at some party that makes me nervous about some guy jambing his finger into my laptops display going "WHATS THIS STUFF!? HA HA HA!!!" and poking the screen really hard, then i will just bring the cd binder |
