They seem to be just as good as the techs when you read the specs. Its the difference between a real farari and buying a "kit car" they look the same they might have the same specs but the preformance is no match to the real thing. I used the stanton for about 6 months and I took it back atleast ten times to get tweaked or just to get looked at. it was never a major problem they would just do scetchy things like humming for no reason or the pitch would speed up and slow down without me touching it. I have now been using my techs for 1.5 yrs and absolutly no issues. I have dropped one down a case of stairs, 25 to be exact and the only thing that broke was the leg (15$ to replace). In fact that little incident was no big deal at all, now I cant even tell which one I dropped. Go with the techs. you will not regret it. the only thing you might regret in the long run is that they are very simple and plain. if you like to look cool or show off without having any skills I would suggest going with somthing flashy like the numarks lol. but even then the techs have face plate upgrades. silver, gold, purple, pink, red, blue. Not just the plain old black or dull silvergrey. cheers jacob |

well, it really depends on what your buddy is doing, if he's doing technical works, liek scratching, definetly the techs, but if its just to keep a beat going, then i would go for teh cheaper one, i have a pair of str8 60's (ya i know, old school) and i found out, they suck for hip-hop, slow start/stop time, random hum's, i dunno, i always wanted a pair of tech MK-II's but damn, $$$

to be fair, ST 150s are the high-end stantons that apparently have higher torque than technics and supposedly equal sturdyness in construction. Think of it as the Numark TTX of Stanton.
#1, i'd tell your buddy to try them at a store just to see if the feel is off and maybe he'll actually like the stantons more. #2 - tell your friend to keep in mind that if he has a desire to play out 98% of the time, he'll be on Techs (generally MK2 or M3Ds). Period. If you get super used to having a +/- 20 pitch control you might be fucked when you want to spin out (drastic example but still) #3 - you can't really find out much about long-term use cause these decks really haven't been on the market that long. Technics are proven. With regular tuning, those things will last well past a decade. Stanton is a crap shoot especailly considering their previous reputation for shit decks. From what I hear, the ST150s are only a little cheaper than Tech 12s so I'd probably say go for the techs. But if he really likes the stantons and is willin to take a risk, he may end up happy... |

here's a review from one of my most trusted sites on the T.120 (the replacement model for the old ST 150)
