The mix is ok. Ever notice that 2step break dnb trax don't sound even remotely as 'hard' or dark as the amen roll outs?
From my ears, some of the tunes in the mix aren't that dark or "heavy", but some good rollers in there, even for my blown out demented ears. haha, you know you've been listening to dnb for waaaay too long to critique a set like this on its 'ardness. Nah, I think its a good thing dnb staple labels like Outbreak are atleast starting to step outside that "safety zone". ENDUSER signing with a straight up dnb label is a good thing, a few of us are still somewhat suprised, but he's the one to crossover for sure. I didnt' even really think much of Enduser's Outbreak release compared to the rest of his catalogue, but I like it now. As far as the label is concerned, in the end, A&R means you keep yer ear out, and take a few chances, maybe even progress music if you want. Panacea hasn't done much with Uk dnb labels at all, like EVER... long time coming for that one, which is a suprise too. And I like the Outbreak Panacea tunes in the mix, compared to the god awful vocal trance 'n'bass hi-nrg stuff he was doing recently (Ben Sage remixes, etc. ). Stick to the basics, or atleast go check out PANACEA as RICHKID for the real shit. Last edited by **TORMENT**; Jun 01, 05 at 06:02 PM. |
