i don't think it neccessarily just because of the Neptunes that he's back on form, (though it's gotta help) i think it may be more that, having come off of another relatively strong album in "Paid The Cost..." he has a renewed confidence in his style & abilities. As an MC, Snoops strength has always been more in his personality that his actual ryhming skills, so being able to exude that mad mack confidence is essential to him making good music, imo.

pump pump has a SICKENING beat, snoops writing was better back then although malik stole the track. his verse was intense

however, it grew on me. the beat is hot.
i think it took off cause there was nothing that was very good at the same time....no competition.
ups and downs IS a good song though....i dont know how you can say its not.

i could argue that all of his success is due to the beats not his writing (a lot of truth in that) which makes him a talentless mc over a standout instrumental. but im not gonna do that....
