NEW RELEASE INFO THz001A: "Bun Dem" DJ Wood Original Mix THz001B: "Bun Dem" Karma remix Release Date: July 4th 05' twentyHz Music & 2 Wars Label Group Present DJ WOOD - "Bun Dem" Debut release from Canadian west coast based label twentyHz Music. Stacked with a roster of fresh new artists, twentyHz moto of "Full Spectrum Breakbeat" promises to bring an exciting and innovative sound to the world of breaks. About This Release DJ Wood's debut is heavy on the Meat Katie tech funk breaks vibe with an infectious ragga vocal hook. All about the low slung shuffle, this mix will appeal to the breaks purist and any experimental house DJ. Karma (aka Pacific & Soda) take the remix into the rollin' darkside. Heavy drums and great use of the vocal make it this one a peak time dancefloor filler! About The Artists A long time vet in the West Coast electronic music scene, Sherwood Seabrook or as he's commonly known as DJ Wood has had his hands deep in electronic music be it through his Boomtown Record shops, on the turntables, or in the studio for 10+ years. Wood's eclectic taste in breaks and all things broken make him a talent to watch out for. Vancouver's Karma are made up of heavyweight drum n bass producer Pacific and Canadian breakbeat favorite DJ Soda. Pacific is one of the hottest names in the North American drum n bass scene, he has been on a roll over the last year with a string of releases on various drum n bass labels, as well as remix work for Lee Cabreara, Danny Howells, and an up-coming release with Psidream on UK giant Renegade Hardware. Soda is one of Canada's top breakbeat DJs. Playing for years across Canada and around the world, Soda is also the owner of twentyHz Music. A key player as a promoter in the development of the Canadian West Coast breakbeat scene, Soda is now reaching out as a producer teaming up with Pacific to form Karma and regularly DJing alongside Karma new addition MC Kia Kadiri. What The Press Are Saying: Urb Magazine (USA): "Straight out of Vancouver, this new label is set to light up the breaks scene with a roster of talented upcoming artists. First up on the label is a Meat Katie-style tech breaks track with a minimal yet smokin' ragga vocal. On the flip, Karma (aka DJ Soda & d&b producer Pacific) rework into a menacing darkside roller with plenty of funky stabs for the floor." Rinse Magazine (CAN): "The debut release from newly formed Canadian label TwentyHz. For their first outing, they've called upon Vancouver veteran DJ Wood to make his presence known. 'Bun Dem' is a tech funk tune with a ragga edge. Definitely aimed at the proggier side of the spectrum. Things really take off on the flipside with the Karma remix. 'Karma' is Vancouver DJ Soda teamed up with D&B don Pacific that is focused on bringing west coast breaks back to the dancefloor. Their remix of 'Bun Dem' is a funky and infectious roller that will stick in your head and have you singing along! Heavy drums and heavier bass will turn heads and rock floors without a doubt. Excellent first release!" Mofo Magazine (UK): "With summer coming this couldn't have been a more perfect time to drop this tune. I'm beginning to love my ragga & dub influences in breaks and when I hear tunes like this, I know why. Bun Dem is a gorgeous rounded bassline that gets deep. Skankin synth stabs work to the drop that introduces an amazing dubby vocal that rides the track held tightly together with phat kicks, subs and percussion licks. The Karma remix takes the proceeding on a jump-up tip utilising subbass and a loose rolling groove."
