July 29th Fixed Fridays Presents

RYAN RUCKUS(Toronto)

DJ / Label Manager / Promoter / Exec. Producer

2004 was blazing hot for Ryan Ruckus, as Toronto’s DnB business man balanced out an extensive local and international DJ schedule, the launch of his websites, the launch of Yard Recordings featuring Canada’s Typhoon, John Rolodex and Visionary, as well as preparing a heavy release schedule for Hustlin’ Beats featuring the likes of Natural Emcee and Visionary featuring Toronto’s own Perfecto Recordings artist Jenna Anderson. This type of work load is customary for Ruckus as it has been this way since the beginning.

Known as the hardest working man in Canadian Drum n Bass, RYAN RUCKUS has exploded into 2005 with not just fresh new beats… but a lifestyle to back it.

This 9 year veteran of Toronto’s DnB circuit is a leader in bringing Canadian Drum n Bass to the forefront of Canada’s general music industry as well as helping develop Canada’s drum n bass sound on an international level. As a longtime head promoter of System Soundbar’s long standing LOOSE Wednesdays, alongside partner Tones Depante, Ryan has been able finally to take Toronto Drum n Bass to new heights with the massive successful launch of the brand new LOADED Saturdays at System Soundbar. With LOADED backed by a team of heavyweight DnB industry artists and figure heads, Ruckus is now able to market and sell Toronto DnB to the mainstream market who up until now, has been shying away from this heavy hitting underground sound simply due the lack of proper exposure.

With LOADED being the fresh new project for 2005, Ryan Ruckus has also been pulling together an unprecedented release schedule for his HUSTLIN BEATS RECORDINGS imprint. “This year is going to be the strongest year for the label and for us as the music that our artists are coming with is definitely at par with the UK standard of DnB” says an enthusiastic Ruckus. So lets break it down like this, with 4 solid releases under the labels belt, the Hustlin Crew has been able to build the 2005 release schedule to match the number of the releases on the label to date thus far. On top of that, Ryan, along with UK business partner, MC FEARLESS, met with the management team of ground breaking Canadian urban group, The Pocket Dwellers, and lined up a smashing remix piece off the groups brand new album set to be release early this year. With a full release schedule from fellow LOADED residents NATURAL EMCEE and the VISIONARY boys, Ruckus will get to finally have the chance to build and develop his label’s sound and strength on the A List level. “All of my artists are going global this year. We’ve all had our taste of international play and exposure, but this time around it’s the world calling for us, not us chasing the world.”

So with all that, an undisclosed line-up on his ragga imprint YARD RECORDINGS and the job of managing the brand new www.hustlinbeats.com site, one will wonder how he still has time to DJ. But as 2004 came to a close, Ruckus set out to tour the Canadian circuit and try to unite the coasts with his bad boy Hustlin Beats sound. If that is any sign of things to come, 2005 should see Ruckus hitting places around the globe that he had only dreamt of as a kid.

Regardless of where this year takes Ryan Ruckus, you can be guaranteed to find him every Saturday that he is in town, down at System Soundbar for LOADED SATURDAYS doing what he does best, bust up the dance from behind the decks or mingling with his T.Dot family on the dance floor. Hardest working man in Canadian Drum n Bass… what do you think?
