Filler tracks...
Why would anyone ever play filler tracks? I stand by what I play 100% and EVERY track I play I love and would fill any floor in my opinion. If I heard my mix played by someone else, I would be on the dancefloor the whole fucking set.
I don't see the point in playing mediocre tracks in between big bangin choons. I mean, you MUST know what a filler track is. If people leave the dancefloor to go have a drink, or a rest while you're playing. THAT'S.. a filler. I mean c'mon. |

Im afraid i agree with dabbler on this one mate.
in my mind i play no filler tracks and my style is quite full on peak time stuff unless im doing a warm up or early set.but recently iv been droping the new stuff that dj mutiny has been puting out with had a kind of soulfull liquid edge to it but with the right kind of drum composition to mixed into heavy breaks and iv have realy good reactions to it . havnt seen any one leave the dance floor because of it so maybe there not really filler tunes . are you sure your not just geting filler mixed up with shit? |

Just like what Jay said, depends on your definition of a filler track. There may be some wickedly produced minimal track with a laid back vibe. To some average person they may consider that a filler track because it's a change from the kick you in the face back to back bangers.

it depends on how you define a filler track. if it means it's simply not a huge track then yeah fuck that we're dealing with novices =) |

Please recognized what timeslot you're booked to play as well. If you play all the crazy bangin jams first thing in a club venue, it's just not appropriate. |

I feel what you're all saying forsure, reading the crowd and your time slot doesn't make a difference.
I guess what I was getting at was, if you don't love every track you play, why would you play it. Weither that be a big bangin tune, or something more laid back. I guess in my mind a tune that play out that you don't back 100% and don't love, is considered filler to me. |

Fillers to me are still good tracks that I like... just not anthems or climax tracks that sweat the corwed out and keep them glued to the dance floor.
DJ'ing in a club is alot like being an arobics instructor... A fine club dj will let the music settle and give the crowed a break. This lets ppl go to the batheroom, socialize, and most important give time to SPEND MONEY AT THE BAR!!! This way the crowed doesnt feel like there missing much when they take a break. After a filler track or two through in another hit and the crowd will come back (kinda like a roller coster effect) However if some peeps int he corwed dont feel like leaving the dance floor... the filler track at least lets them cool off a bit and calm down so there not all tired out when you put on the hits again. |
