Don't start dj'ing, unless:

a. you have $500 a month to blow
b. you have found the music you love
c. you don't mind playing in your bedroom by yourself
d. all of the above

Most people don't realize how much money dj'ing is. They think "I just have to get enough to buy the equpiment, then i'll be set" think again. $20 a record, you need roughly 15-20 records for an hour and a half, you dont want to constantly play the same tunes over and over, but some of us do. =P You need a lot of money to burn, and time to put into your hobby.

fuck it costs alot

i've spent over 2 grand on records alone the past 2 months and i still want more and more records. damn u have no idea of the joy u get when u have new records to experiment with and make crazy shit! and i got a bunch of records coming in the mail so i'm SO stoked on those!! mmmmmm....
but every time i have money, it disapears right away cuz i run to the record shop that instant or i order a bunch off the net. its terrible. leaves me no money for gas, food, girls, boooohooo

plus it took me about 2 years to gather enough money to afford turntables... so yeah i have to agree with oddmud. if yur willing to sacrifice ALOT of money and u know what music u love (and it helps to know all the tracks u want right off as well) then go for it!

and the frustration when u cant pull off a mix the first few days u have yur decks is a huge starting point. when i started off on vinyl i could see many people giving up right away cuz beatmatching is hard to learn when u dont know what yur doing. but once u get beatmatching, the fun starts there (cuz who wants to worry about beatmatching? its the most boring fuckin thing to do in djing!)

Yeah, that was terrible. I was playing Miami Bass instead of my regular tunes, and I was just dropping them because of the vocals in the tunes. I tried mixing a few properly but they just didn't work out.

As for getting better? Yes. I've done a lot of work on my mixing.
Things have gotten a hell of a lot better since last year.
