ummm are you saying 99-2000 is old school? Hardhouse was a refreshing change for Prog-House that was prominent of 97-98. But even back then it was not all that hard, and 99 can hardly be called old school. |

Alright Crazy Dave, Ive just had it with your ignorance.
First of all, Hardhouse started in 1992. Second the name Hardhouse is a genre and honestly, it sounds alot harder than house, therefore the name works. Third, not every song that has a melody is Trance. Fourth, all electronic music came from Disco so your subgenre this and that is irrelevant. All electronic music has one root. Do us all a favour and please stop calling your Mortal Kombat soundtrack rave music. Thanks :D: |

1) Trance is not about the melody,,, that only came about late 90's. Now people think trance has to have a melody and be all floaty. People think trance is that Epic/Euro sound now a days. 2) If subgenre are irrelevant then what the issue say HardHouse has more in common to trance then house? Ummm again? 3) HardHouse only became huge in Vancouver 98-99. Mortal Kombat, ummm yea... that's what most kids on this board think is rave music. |

UK HardHouse, was way more raw back in 98-00. So I agree some what. The producers did not have all the nice finishing tools(or the skills). So to fatten up there track they brick wall compress the mix and would over drive the kicks and bass lines. It was a bit harder, but nothing like Hardcore's hard clipped 909 kicks, or soft clipped Acid Techno/Booty/Getto/Chi/HardHouse sounds from years before those days. Dave,
I think its quite clear that alot of people in vancouver have no idea what different types of genre's and sub-genre's there are really. Christ they can't even match them properly..... Which probably makes the electronica scene rather weak compared to other places... I mean jeez remember at Hypnotica.... you had these kids out there and they thought robb was playing epic trance????..... Made some people confused.... thats for damn sure... |

hardhouse is hardhouse... who cares.. why do u care if i dont classifly it properly... Jeez man... i dont have time to mind the classification of every track these days... if its fast and has a phat beat with some hoovers and wicked buildups then its close enough to hardhouse for me... or should i say harddance.. or hardtrance.. or techno.. who cares

ummm there is A HUGE DIFFERENCE between harddance, hard trance, techno and hard house.. this is one of reasons why Vancouver is such a close minded rave community..We see it all the time on this board..Everybody classifys music as one type.. i don't know how many promoter from vancouver and even djs have been in my car. I am playing newer happy hardcore. and Hours later they are asking whom that trance dj is cause they sound great... Would you walk up to a hardcore dj and say oh my god i luv hardcore my fave dj is anabolic frolic..NO cause its NOT THE SAME..There is different types.. or a house dj and say wow I just loved that latest cd from aqua...cause i guess if house is all the same then euro , funky, booty , hard house is all house right... In the end most people in Vancouver think one thing..Wow that was great trance ...And yes the hypnotica party was a great example of that..Lets all bow down to Robb Peppertree's feet for he was a trance god that night..lol.. or last year at Sonar when DJ Swamp was there people were complaining that he wasen't spinning enough house????WTF.. or when Disco D got his set cut short at Sonar because his house music was not go for the crowd..Since when is ghetto tech suppose to sound like club house?? How about when Richie Hawtin comes lets get him to play the damm Crazy Frog remix cause its all techno right???lol or next time Armin V B is spinning came he please end his set with some goa slow goa trance cause its all trance right?? Maybe if people know what they were actually listening to it would help .. Last edited by PARTYGIRLSTAYC; Oct 04, 05 at 01:31 AM. |
