ya, my ex-bf used to listen to necro constantly... and he was more of the white guy that wanted to be a thug type of deal... pretty sad really... that and all that underground rap that has no rhythm to it at all... i never liked that shit. tho, i must admit that dead body disposal was kind-of funny I guess :)

the thing is ...... lots of people are like "yeah i listen to underground" .... like they've got a the low-down on some fresh music that no one knows about....or they've got a unique taste in music....when really its just some shit that no one knows about it cuz it sucks, or it isnt even "underground" at all.
underground rap is actually a genre.....its not just that the shit is less-known. the style of music is different from the catchy, club-style mainstream rap. it usually has a message, or different themes .....rather than the cliché guns, bitches, bling, cars etc. u'd hear in almost all mainstream rap. the beats are usually sampled, or at least use real instrument and drum sounds rather than that synthesizer-with-claps bullshit u can find in a say....a lil jon track. and above all.....underground is almost always better lyrically.....whether it be with metaphors, wordplay or multi-syllable rhyming probly the most popular underground heads are Atmosphere MF Doom Aesop Rock Necro Non-Phixion Extended Famm (PackFM,CunninLynguists,Tonedeff) Outerspace Jedi Mind Tricks Vakill Louis Logic Wordsworth Cormega Jean Grae Sage Francis Juice Lord Finesse Reef Tha Lost Cauze Immortal Technique (although his success is making him much more well known....but his music will probly never go mainstream) there's more but these are probly the most popular. all worth checking out www.undergroundhiphop.com [/education] |

well... most of those are actually bands that he used to listen to, at least jedi mind tricks and necro... i can't really remember any other individual ones, but those were his favorites...perhaps I never actually sat and LISTENED to them for lyrics, so that could be why... thanks, though, i appreciate the info :)

well jedi mind couldnt be considered to be "lacking rhythm".....they have a pretty conventional rap style.....its mostly just their beats and lyrical content that make them unique. necro....maybe sometimes could be considered unrhythmic but he's also actually prtty good lyrically.
one of the only guy ive noticed to seem unrhythmic is mf doom.....but i think it's just something you have to get used to.....cuz when i first listened to him i was like uh.....this is kind of off beat.....but i got used to it and it really is just different from the conventional rap style.......i'd say MF Doom is mostly an aquired taste |
