looping
sorry if this is a stupid question but is there anyway i can get a mixer that can loop parts of vinyls? i thought i've heard of it before but i wanna know a bit more
i'm kind of a newb and ve only seen ppl doing it with CDJ's so i wanna know if i can get a mixer that can loops sections of vinyl cuz ive checked out a lot of dope break records and battle records that have like 10 second long samples and i wanna be able to just keep loopin that part, if that's possible. |

any mixer with an on-board sampler should be able to do it (DJM 600). You can also get youself a fx box/sampler and hook it up to your mixer via the effects return/send too.
Even some boxes with particularly robust delay effects can functionally serve as a looper. |

Don't replace your mixer with one that has a loop function. Mixers with effects on them are often ok mixers with ok effects, as opposed to awesome mixers with no effects.
Check out the Red Sound 'Cycloops', that's what Richie Hawtin uses. It's just a little box that does exactly what you're looking for. Not too expensive, either, a few hundred bucks IIRC. |

cycloops..
the resound cycloops dosn't need an aux send/return, although it is possible.
It uses the headphone out as the source for looping, if need be. Then just return the loop into your extra channel. There are other ones out there, but this thing is solid. read more about it here: http://www.djsource.co.uk/reviews/ha...eature-review/ Last edited by Skyles; Nov 15, 05 at 07:27 PM. |

And of course, if what you really want to do is extend some of these loops/breaks a bit for live-dj use, the cheap option is to record them and loop them via acid or logic and just burn a 4-minute wav loop onto a CD :). |
