thanks for help! i didnt see much verity at Tom Lee right now.

but i got Numark DXM01, with the USB Digital Mixer which is kinda cool.

Its pretty simiple! i love the USB feature. it records with much higher quality through USB output. THere was one similar to this with effects, but with no USB input/output. It comes with Demo BPM Studio Software, but the guy suggest me to just get an effects add on software and will be pretty much the same as having a mixer with effects.
I heard Numark really improved. there aren't many problems with recent Numark mixers, and also provides you with 3 year warranty (thats a good sign)

The DXM01 USB is a 24-bit digital DJ mixer with a 10" tabletop design that includes two USB ports for direct computer connectivity. Audio files can be played from computer and mixed along with records, CDs, and microphone. Mixes can also be recorded back to computer via USB

The DXM01 USB works seamlessly with all soundcard-compatible Windows and Mac audio software, and all audio file formats are supported, including MP3, Windows Media, and AIFF files. No software drivers are needed with Windows XP or Mac OS X, and a USB cable is included.

With a 24-bit digital signal path throughout, the DXM01 USB offers the purest sound of any DJ mixer, all digital controls, and sub-bass synthesis with intensity control.

Numark DXM01 USB 24 Bit Digital Mixer Specification:
  • Dual USB ports
  • Mix audio files directly from computer together with records and CDs
  • Record directly to computer
  • Works with any audio file format
  • Works with all sound card compatible Windows and Mac audio software (not included)
  • 24-bit digital mixing
  • Spectral display
  • Noise-free digital mixing controls
  • Steep 3-band EQ with Frequency Kill
  • 2 Phono (w/phono defeat switch)/2 line, 1 mic
  • Sub-Bass synthesis with intensity control
  • High quality D-TYPE 100% Digital crossfader with reverse switch and continuous rotary slope control
  • Look-Ahead Peak Limiting on headphone and master outputs
  • RCA Record output w/o microphone for making mixtapes

This is just to get me started! I dont need a super fancy mixer as of yet, but sure will upgrade when i think is needed . :)

the ecler line of mixers are THE shit. Great build and sound quality i know a couple people who have one (including myself).

Either that or go for a Rane or you can find a used vestax for cheap. Well in your price range. The link i posted is for the 2 channel ecler and it will even be lower then your price range you could go for a 3 channel ecler instead or get the 2channel and use the extra flow to buy some quality cables, some vinyl or whatever. Stanton mixers suck.

yea, the DXM06 is the one with effects, i was looking at that one, but then again decided to go with 01, because of the USB.

DXM09 is hard to get, its out of stock right now, and a LITTLE bit more pricey. but i heard overall just ass good mixers! :)

...thanks :)

nice one! the price is reasonable, but not Sold in Tom Lee. i feel a bit sketchy ordering any electronics online, first off, i am worried it will get damaged in mail, and another, if something goes wrong, i'd hate to have to pay for shipping, which would suck, an plus wait, etc... i like how tom lee is walkin distance from my house :P

Stantons are low on stock, prolly cause they are inexpensive!

i really wanted more then 2 chanels, just cause my good friend Justin (Junglists), (thanks to him, he got me all started with this) got me CDJS for my birthday, and i really want to be able to use them, without having to switch back and forth. But i think i should be able to use USB input on the mixer, and then switch using the line switch!

Hmmm, cant wait to set up our little studio! 4 turn tables, and 2 cdjs.. mmm yea!

Thanks for all suggestions guys! really appreciate!
we should get together sometime and play some muzik!

i'd still like to hear about other models and their feedback! totally will help me with going a step up (soon it'll be)

Yeh you just hook everything up and switch between phono and line(turntable-cdj)

Talk to Akeel if your interested about the ecler he is sponsored by them and can order them in, maybe even get you a deal.

I would also suggest to check out Long and McQuade before deciding on what to buy, they're prices are lower and their stock is also bigger.

the only problem with the pioneer 707's.. is the fact that they heat up too quickly, plus the screen for effects could just die out.

but if you do want a mixer with FX and you feel like spending too much money. Then go for a pioneer djm600.
If not, go with the ecler.

^ you're thinking of the 909, not the 707.

The 707 was the basic version of the 909 (no effects, no touch screen) that was discontinued. The price was basically cut in half (from like $900 to $450).

Good luck finding one now though...

DXM Line is best for audio quality output.

And the Crossfader is kickass.

Trust me....Ecler is the way to go, I'm one of those few ppl that now own one cuz of Kam's recommendation....I stand firm on how much I love this bitch, Sounds just PRO, and with a very competitive price . Pionneer = Over rated, doesn't even sound that good anymore, Nu Mark = Poo, Stanton = Poo, Vestax = not bad....

Nah vestax are solid mixers they just haven't really done much lately. Rane took over as the scratch mixer. But Vestax's are still great deals if you find a cheap used 07 or something like that. They are built to last, i had my 05 for a long time and the crossfader never bled. Better choice then stanton imo.

hahahaha, this thread is straight roffles!

Numark and stanton make shit mixers...they also turn around there products every year so there is little to no support once a new model is released, this has the pattern for both companies for years after about 3 years you wont be able to purchase parts if they need replacement.

For your money you are better off buying a quality mixer from one of the big 4
Pioneer
Rane
Allen & Heath
Ecler (like kam said, i'm sponsored and the distributor for western canada)

Better support, better quality, better product.

I would rank sound quality as follows

1.Rane/Ecler
2.Allen & Heath
3.Pioneer

product support for each of these companies is excellent as well...please dont waste your money on stanton or numark!!

Pretty much what he said. Numark and Stantons are entry level mixers, so don't expect to hook it up to a decent sound system and not have sound quality issues. Vestax, which used to be on top, have now been relegated to mid-level. Even though Vestax isn't the topdog anymore, their gear is well made and can take a beating. If you are just learning or a bedroom DJ, Stanton and Numark mixers will be just fine.

I've owned the following mixers: Lineartech, Vestax PMC17A, Vestax PMC270 and an Ecler HAK-360. I never had problems with either Vestax other than normal fader wear. The Ecler HAK 360, which i now swear by, is easily one of the finest mixers on the market.
