DnB Edumacation

My buddy gave me a DnB edumacation last night. I wanted to burn some DnB for driving around and playing Pac Man, so he gave me a stellar list of DnB DJs and producers. I imagine they're all pretty popular but they're new to me. I've just made a point of being at parties where there was DnB, so I'm glad I can actually say "I like this shmoe's work" now. This was the list I was given:

black sun empire
noisia
spor
pendulum
corrupt souls
raiden
noisia
teebee

I thought Noisia was off the feckin hook! Probably my favourite DnB yet. I didn't dig Raiden's work, I thought it was too light and heartless - mind you I didn't listen to more than two tracks. BSE was dope, I'm keeping their stuff around. I couldn't find Spor, but I found Pendulum and Teebee. Pen's stuff was killer, and I realized that I'd heard a few of his more popular songs (Slam, Another Planet, etc). Teebee was good, I dug his/her work with Calyx. I've yet to get to Corrupt Souls, but I'm working on it.

During my on-going adventure, I came across DieselBoy. His work made it onto a few video game soundtracks, so I probably would have come across him before if I really ever played vids. I also discovered Evol Intent. I'm not sure if he's a DnB dj specifically, because the tracks I found were Noisia remixes, but it's aok material.

I know that was long winded, but I'm bored. Anyone else have any suggestions or opinions on these choices?

Noisia, pendulum and evol intent all have three guys in the group. Corrupt souls is made up of impulse and telemetrik. Impulse has some nice solo work but not much. For black sun empire they got a couple LP's out, Driving insane and the newest: Cruel & unusual. Teebee is fucking awesome love him. Check out releases on his label Subtitles. I really liked this release, Teebee - Snake funk / Catch my breath - Subtitles 046. If you liked noisia check out, noisia & upbeats - sacrifice.

You can find alot of mixes containing this type of dnb in the mixes section at www.dsci4.com/forum or search for clips at www.redeyerecords.co.uk, www.chemical-records.co.uk, www.juno.co.uk,www.breakbeatscience.com, www.breakbeat.co.uk

Mixes of all types of different styles of dnb can be found here:
www.breaksblog.biz
www.dogsonacid.com

If you like those artists above please refer to Chase & Status, Gridlok, Hive, Keaton, Stuff on the Violence label, Local Psidream is also holding down this sound at the moment, The Upbeats, cause4concern (aka c4c), concord dawn, phace, mayhem, etc etc.

I have to throw this in though.. Noisia's "Monster" is possibly the slickest shit I have EVER heard. I think my heart would implode from excitment if someone dropped that track at a party.. and that's physically impossible!

Infidel is on a distinguished road
One of my favorite labels lately has been Bassbin Recordings (www.bassbin.com)

Lot of good artists on that label such as Breakage, Equinox, Calibre, Seba, Paradox, Cartridge...etc. In my opinion they're definately worth checking out.
