If I had even one stitch of indie cred.......
it's all gone now *sigh*
Ashamed to admit it.... really truly ashamed, but.... I really enjoy Panic! at the Disco. Cheeseball poppy goodness..... No amount of indie band lovin can save me from that one... but damnit, their tunes are catchy! |

Fueled by Ramen is owned by one of the guys from Less Than Jake actually (or co-owned at the very least).... the thing is that Panic! is all over mainstream radio.... ALL OVER IT. That and they're pretty much Fall Out Boy II!
Either way... can't deny the rump shakin that goes on in my car when I'm rockin it! :) |

Well, in my defense I can easily list off some really incredible bands that are for the most part fairly obscure but I'm afraid that only 3 or 4 people on this entire board might have even heard of them....
Give it up for Oink and it's neverending wealth of amazing music! |

Man... where do I start??? I'm sure I can name a few off the top of my head that I've really appreciated lately.
I mean it all depends on what people really dig.... if it's the classic indie rock sound that people are digging they should pick up on: Jason Collett The Boy Least Likely To Liars Editors Arab Strap Electric Six Man Man Swearing at Motorists We Are Scientists Graham Coxon (formerly of Blur) The Television Personalities Two Gallants His Name is Alive TV on the Radio (they're a little better known) The White Rose Movement Some really good electro/electroclash stuff I've really been digging: Boycrusher Neonman Freezepop Cut Copy Metro Area Broken Spindles Casiotone for the Painfully Alone Toy Fox n' Wolf (Check out the track Youth Alcoholic, it's fucking killer) I've also really been digging Aceyalone's 'Magnificient City' that he did with RJD2 and Sway's new album, the name is escaping me at the moment. One of the better known bands that has a new album coming out is The Vines. It's called 'Vision Valley' and it's raw as fuck.... I love it. Last edited by Cdn_Brdr; Mar 27, 06 at 06:00 PM. |

I don't like his new album as much as Magazines that was a pretty special release. "All Over Me" is still on almost every mixtape I make. |

In no way do I think Panic! At the Disco is Fall Out Boy 2. I love both bands, but I don't really think they're similar. The only thing that they have in common is that they were discovered by FOB I believe. The first time I heard P!ATD was last summer and I loved their stuff ever since. The only thing I have to complain about is how I bought the album for $24.99 when it's $11.99 now. GEEZ. That's one good thing about a band being played all over the airwaves. So I too, have love love love P!ATD. You're not alone.
I also love saosin. |

I think they're very similar.... on top of sounding the same in a lot of the tracks they also have that love of really long and obscure song titles that have little, if anything, to do woth the lyrical content of the song!
Examples: F.O.B. Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued I've Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part To Save The Scene And Stop Going To Shows) P!ATD The Only Difference Between Martydom And Suicide Is Press Coverage Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet I predict a large amount of bands that sound just like Fall Out and Panic! getting signed and over-exposed right quick! Totally still love them :) |

"The Only Difference Between Martydom And Suicide Is Press Coverage"
This title is a lot smarter than anyone in F.O.B. is capable of (really, it's a great title). They're a band called Fall Out Boy who has never even heard of Fallout Boy. Besides, F.O.B. is on Island now, which hasn't released a relevant record since The Orb. Last edited by Mangle; Mar 28, 06 at 02:17 PM. |

OK, I have a question.... not in defense of FOB really but a question in regards to bands in general. Are you saying that just because a band signs to a label that might not have released anything 'relevant', as you put it, in the last few years that they suddenly lose the ability to write any music worht listening to? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm really just curious here.... but do you pretty much take the stance that if you are signed on to a major label that you suck, you're a puppet to money and greed, and couldn't write a decent song worth really listening to if you tried? |
