Portland Oregon?
So I'll be rolling through Portland for a few days next month. Anyone been there? Have any ideas of stuff to do there? Any good club nights (house, breaks, d&b?) Been looking at that nwtekno.net, pretty hurtin site IMO. Doesn't really list any good club nights.
Not just looking for club nights though, can anyone reccomend restaurants? Things to do during the day? Anyways, yeah any suggestions? |

all i know is that portland is the butt of alot of jokes at the track.
it's known as the armpit of the racing world. i know plenty of jockeys who REFUSE to go there. it's the kinda place you go when you have NO other options, rated as bush just what i've heard though. |

Don't eat the oysters as they are :gross:
Hell.. don't eat the seafood there as it is rancid compared to Vancouver. If you own an Audi/VW go visit Matrix. Don't try pumping your own gas as it is against the law. Canon and Arcadia beach are nice places to go and tan. Other than that it is a pretty boring place. |

i lived in portland for 5 years. can't tell you much about dnb nights as it's been like 8 years since i've been there but...
If you're into books at all make sure to check out Powells Books (1005 W Burnside) - it's the best damn bookstore on the west coast. Absolutely huge, you could spend all day in there if you wanted. In that area are a couple vinyl shops that I can't remember the name of - not really DJ-centric but you can find some great finds there if you're into digging. Be sure to check out the local micro-brews beer-wise. People scoff at american beer but Oregon has some of the best micro-breweries in the world. I recommend Dechute, Full Sail, or Bridgeport (brew companies). The Bridgeport brew pub is somewhere on the NW side of the city - great place for lunch and some beer (ask around, locals will know where it is). Good neighbourhood for shopping is Hawthorne (it's on the SE side, across the willamete), kinda similar to Commercial Drive but with more shops. There are a lot of quirky cafes and stuff in that area too. If it's still there and you feel like catching a movie, The Bagdhad is a sort of 2nd-run movie theatre that basically doubles as a brew pub. You can order food and have beers while you watch a movie on a big screen - used to be one of my favorite hang-outs. um, i'll add more if i can remember more places to check out. |

Check out Crush:ed Thurs. at The Greek - really solid DnB weekly (usually no cover). Here's a link to the local board down there.
