any djembe players out there?

Just got one for my birthday. . . soo happy! I mentioned I could use a drum of some sort but all I expected were some cheap bongos but I ended up getting a beautifully carved full-size traditional djembe(pronounced jem-bay), right from africa!

Does anyone else play?

I have a djembe too.
Sadly, I haven't played it much since I moved to Vancouver.
I'd like to but I'm really shy when it comes to music, so I don't get into many circles...or ever.

I have a djembe... but its been hard to find a circle in surrey/delta... lots of them are in vancouver so its difficult to go... hard to find a nice space to practice as well in delta as there are so many townhouse and suburban communities it tends to garner a lot of complaints, especially if you're learning :P

next time I'm in Van, I'll be sure to bring mine. I'm no percussionist, but I'm fascinated with the idea of making music without any melodic instrument. As a guitarist I'm completely out of my element and that's where I learn the most. I'm sure we could put together some happenin jams.

I'm going to attempt to get a little drum circle together up here, but I don't know how well that will go over. Here's hoping.
