i suggest using something like the High Contrast remix of FSOL or somethng like Dieselboy's Barrier Break - they both have a breakdown that goes to like 130 bpm - perfect for house or breaks...

^i can see those ones transitioning to breaks more so than house... i have a couple of dnb tunes that slow down into much housier beats, one by Accidental Heroes and there's another one i think by Shy FX

recently picked up a dnb single by DJ Andy & Mikrob that drops down to a 110 bpm loop remenicient of Atomic Dog... haven't used it out yet but i'm sure it's gonna come in really handy some time...

i personally would never play a set that went from dnb to breaks...the energy level just isnt the same.

vice versa though is alright

i mix dubstep polka with subbasselectroghettobootytechasscore ragga using quadruple and septuplet drops.

^ Well it's always easier to raise the bpms than it is to lower them and keep the energy level going, but I have seen some DJs manage the opposite. Locally, Mat the Alien is probably one of the few DJs I've seen that has a mastery of changing tempos so seamlessly that it often takes a few songs to register that the tempo has changed and I've seen him go from slow to fast and vice-versa as well...

no doubt, matt's a freaking technician. its also easier to drop the tempo way down to like 80 or 100 then sitting around 130 to 140 after dnb

I know.... Thats the one thing I refuse to do...Having to kiss ass, instead of being booked based on skill ( << Thats for another whole thread alone...but I'll leave it at that, I could already smell the shit clouds rolling in )...LOL!

matty brudda il tell u this if i could afford it id spin everything accept trance cuz that shits fairy haha anyways back to the point, i love performing and i think that dj'ing is one of the funnest things to do as well, and i sure as hell know that id be getting more shows if i was a house dj but i have to stick to dnb cuz i can only afford to buy one genre of records, eventho it makes me lose opportunities that might have been possible if i had more money/records.

ONE DAY I'LL WIN 6/49............THEN WHAT?

i have actually always loved listning to trance music, progressive, electro, so i thought why not start djing trance music, it was fun in the beginning, but i slowly figured out that trance music is something i love to hear, its good music, its what actually got me started into loving electronic music in the first place. but it just was not fun to spin.

so then i found a love for drum and bass music, because of the fact that, you can jam to it while spinning, and its so versitile, you can cut, mix, scratch, fade, everything with it. and it totally is SO FUN TO SPIN. you can get so into it, and lose track of everything. Its just the fact that its SO... its unexplainable, mixing dnb is unexplainable in a good way.

still love to listen to trance, but thats my reason for DNB.

lol wayner the darkside eh? I believe you spent the last year or so giving me shit for the tracks i played that you said were too "dark" or "techy."

Anyways, Soo yeh those 2 tracks were some of my fav's because of the extended breakdowns.

For me i started playing drum&bass because it fit well with my tastes. I always had an addiction to adrenalin and going fast (i drink too much coffee). In the late 90s with dieselboys mixes and other various things i found on Napster i heard those descending basslines and industrial dark sounds of tech itch, decoder, konflict etc. I grew up listening to Tool and NIN so i was a big fan of scathing metallic sounds. Now it has grown into my love for future neuro styles.

I also have a huge love for oldschool funk breaks, hip hop, the new funk movement and 80s music. Trying to learn to mix that all together, definately takes more talent then just straight synced up DNB. Mixing DNB is definately a great stress reliever though.

dnb
techno
trance
hardcore
industrial
