So this is why they call it black crack!

Decided to pick up some vinyl yesterday... collecting vinyl slowly then getting the setup...

Picked up the following:
VSN002A - Noisia/Teebee - Lost cause
VSN002AA - Noisia/Mayhem/Verse - Choke

UDFR020A - Stakka & Skynet - Timelines Remix
UDFR020AA - Stakka & Skynet - Nightlore Remix

MASH09 - Logistics - Up Rock
- Logistics - Static

Psidream & Pacific - A . Hazardous AA. Afterburner

Almost picked up a Shitmat Vinyl however the vinyl was cracked :( ..
However there was a nice squarepusher vinyl but that was a little way to expensive...

It doesn't matter when you buy your decks.

I bought my decks first but didn't have any music to play for a long time and that was more hurtin' than having music to play but no decks.

I'd rather know that I have music to play when I get my first decks than see the nice pair of Techs sitting in their boxes because I have nothing to play on them except Abba and Boney M.

that's what I always figured too. Unless you save up enough cash to buy even half a dozen tracks, all buying tables will do is piss you off because they're so shiney and useless to you.

on the flipside, your constant vinyl cravings keep your bank account too small to buy decks (for most people this is the case) and you end up 3 years into "playing records" before ever owning decks, and then you have to buy used ones.

i bought my first record 5 years ago
i still cant buy the damn decks
everytime something urgent comes up that needs the TT funds
once you've saved up enough, buy the decks, dont even think twice
hopefully i'll be able to do that, soon

Quoted for truth... I didn't though. Invested in some used Vinyl and practiced at Friends places to make sure I wanted to do it as a Hobby. Bought my setup this Year and now I can try and sate my Vinyl cravings.

Need some damn Speakers though. Using the TV as an Amp is starting to get annoying.

Some idiots at boomdown decided to listen to 2 dozen breaks and progressive vinyl and just left it right beside the decks.... lame...

hahahahaha! I started buying vinyl before getting decks. Could not afford the $750 they cost back then (for the old 1200MK2s). Then an old friend had a Dual turntable (from the '50s I think) which needed some TLC. I got it from him, painted the ugly wooden case with the spray "Stone" paint, and hacked some needles together to the tone arm using crazy glue (could not find the actual stylus that would fit that model). Took me about 2 years before I got my 1st 1200... but in the meantime, the record collection kept growing and growing. I then had the Dual and the 1200.... it used to be so much fun mixing with those two, as the Dual had pitch control, but it was super sensitive, and the pitch control was on a dial! Took me another 3 years and got my second 1200... and by that time, I had built a crazy record collection, and due to the Dual being so hard to work with, mixing with two 1200s seemed like a piece of cake.

Let's not mention the $100 Radio Shack mixer I had to use for the first 5 years :-)

There is nothing like buying records and building a solid music collection, My advice to you: don't buy random records that sound good on the spot but you cannot bare to hear them 2 years down the road. Get records that are worthy of your collection...

and support your local record stores. It is the centre of our little community and without them, the scene would totally be lacking.
