If you want to give your mix out then MP3 is the way to go. Put it on your website. PLZ don't make tapes. Don't you want people who spend thousands of $$$$ on sound systems to be able to play it.(NO I DON"T HAVE A TAPE PLAYER). It'll be just like my dusty Capital J tapes that I put onto CD that hisses like crazy. I need those sweet ass remixes of yours at top notch quality. You know??

Tapes are old news
Tapes have been on the outro for sometime now. To me, they seem so ghetto. The last time I got a tape was from Wett bar when they gave out a free hip-hop tape on the table I sat at. Have I ever played it? No. Do I even own a tape player? No. Nowadays if u have a walkman/cassette player u might as well sell it, burn it or give it to a poor kid and buy a mini disc player or portable mp3 player. You'll save yourself a fortune in tunes.
As for good and bad reasons: Tapes: Good -good because they are often very inexpensive (dollar store deals) and they are less likely to be copied and then put on the internet. -good because they still play in a lot of cars (tape decks on older family vehicles) -takes time to replicate so somebody isn’t going to be duping off copies off your new mix -Looks like you actually care for those who could care less about new technology and still have walkmans and cassette players :) Tapes Bad: -Wear out fast -Possibility of getting jammed in player -Melting and deterioration -Quality sounds like shit after awhile -Annoying break 30-45 min into the set -Easier to lose or leave behind at a buddy's Cd’s Good: -Quality -Duration -Scratched cd’s can be fixed using the cd doctor -Can be burnt or played on a pc -Modern Cd’s Bad -Bulky -Expensive @ times ie…3 pack Uk Cream cd’s for $50 -Portable Cd players are big goofy (except dope sony’s or aiwas) -One scratch can be fatal |

in my opinion... cd is better, i think it would help "promote" you better than a tape. who the hell listens to tapes? not to mention that you can record longer on a cd w/out having that break (mentioned in one of the replies above). CD seems more professional... if i were at a party and someone was handing out free music, one guy giving me a tape, another a CD, the first thing i would listen to is the CD! appearances do count! plus u can skip tracks on CDs much much easier, which is what i like to do while listening in the car...
yes, tapes are cheaper... in every sense possible! you get what u pay for... same w/ CDs. more effort = better product. |
