Tide Pool Recordings Launch

Don't know if this is the right place for talking about local record labels, but here goes:

MEDIA RELEASE

TIDE POOL RECORDINGS RELAUNCHED

Tide Pool Recordings is all kinds of pleased to annouce that they are back in action after an epic 6-month hiatus.

The online music label started life as a netlabel in October of 2005, giving away “non-typical dance music” through a supremly low-rent flash website. The first 10 releases, by an array of almost entirely unknown artists, garnered praise from the likes of James Holden, Josh Wink, and Chris Fortier. They would also eventually be downloaded 'round about four thousand times.

As such, after tdpl10 went out in March, label owner Thor Kell was overtaken by savage capitalist urges, and began working towards creating a “proper” online music label. Now, after much gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair, everything is ready:

Tide Pool relaunches on the back of a new release, new website, and new web-store at www.tide-pool.ca – tdpl11 and all of the prior 10 releases are for sale as both high bitrate .mp3s and full bandwidth .wav files. Some releases also offer collections of parts and loops for edit junkies and Ableton wizards, and, in keeping with Tide Pool's netlabel heritage, a simply delicious assortment of tracks are offered for free.

Tide Pool's long term goals are to dominate the online electronic music market, depose iTunes, develop entirely new musical scales, conquer Antartica, invade Mars, and put out songs that we really really enjoy. Not all statements in the above sentance are true. We hope you like what we do.

Tide Pool Recordings is based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. For more information, drop a line to [email protected], or visit www.tide-pool.ca.

Thanks guys. : )

And don't worry, the plans surrounding 'Project Antarctica' involve both penguins and warm warm clothes. We are professionals here at Tide Pool, after all.
