Driving-depends on the time/type of day. anything from House music to Sia. Studying-Sufjan Stevens, Alex Cortez, etc. Excercising-Relentless DnB. Relaxing-Aus/N.Z dubby type shiz. Etc.-All of the above. So what is it for you? I am looking for ome more mellow stuff for the library but thought this post would be fun to put up. |

theres only a couple instances where certain types of music will only work for me.
when I'm feelin blue - classic rock, blues, dark drum and bass afterwork - something i can rock my head to and let all my worries drift away. usually hip hop and edm. other than that i always switch it up depending on whats interestin at the moment |

for relaxing and mello'ing out I often listen to ambient/dark ambient/idm & experimental stuff that I have made and other artists in vancouver has made.... Some of the ambient stuff that comes out of the artists in vancouver is just amazing stuff.... unfortunantly these artists and there materials get overlooked.

well right now.. when I'm trying to stay awake until I have to work because my only alarm clock is my roommate's cell phone which he has right now haha.. drum n bass!
When I'm chilling.. dubstep, blues, reggae, folk.. when I'm partying.. classic rock, dnb.. sometimes hardstyle or techno. when I'm in the right crowd (ie. the moshing variety) heavy metal, power metal, death metal, speed/thrash metal... and if I'm feeling particularily odd.. Norwegian Black Metal sometimes does the trick! Thrashy punk and killer grunge too! other then that.. I listen to anything and everything that pleases me as I feel fit. |

...*rubs hands together*.. ahem. You can never do wrong with Artie Shaw..the classics like Glen Miller, Les Brown and his orchestra..Benny Goodman, Count Basie etc. Art Tatum (pianist)..incredible he also heavily influenced Oscar Peterson, and he's a legend in himself.. Now..I LOVE..Fred Astaire..and even though he's not often classified as swing specifically, he's still from that era..and always worth mentioning. Normally Im not really into newer bands attempting the whole old time ragtime/swing sound but There are a few bands that do a pretty good job..in the modern way...like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and The Cherry Poppin Daddies. If you want a bigger list, just send me a PM...and id be happy to do so... I listen to anything from Josquin to Judas Preist.. I can't really say that I listen to a specific genre while I do something, it's more in the feeling of the moment.. And the company.. I mean sometimes some of the most aggressive stuff, can just calm me right down. It all depends on my mood.. |

I listen to anything that keeps me in a pumped/positive mind frame. Lately that's included: The Doors, Fat Boy Slim, Rob Zombie, Danko Jones, Super Tramp, Trooper, The Alman Brothers, Audio Slave, Rage Against the Machine, Stevie Wonder, some Judas Priest, 80's hair metal, older bb king and pretty much any and every cheesy 80's anthem I can get my hands on. |

"Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been. Lives in a dream... Waits at the window wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door. Who is it for? All the lonely people.. where do they all come from?" =) |

I'm seriously jealous, that show must have been amazing...
Dalyn, good call on Goldfrapp! I should probably mention that trip hop is the soundtrack of my life, I listen to it constantly (Portishead, Massive Attack, Sneaker Pimps, Lamb, Goldfrapp (especially their older stuff). |
