i worked at a residential camp with children who had severe LD's, and emotional/social behavioural problems. it was an incredible experience.

i canoed in some little rapids if that counts for anything...

you know...swimming, canoing, games and stuff...being a camp counsellor?

these kids happen to have social/emotional problems and learning disabilities. They have no social cues, Tourette's, Asperger's just to name a few.

My ex-g/f was a teacher and had a kid with Tourette's. She told me it was a nightmare.

ummm...at this camp, tourette's is easier than asperger's. i had 2 kids with asperger's...which is a very mild form of autism...getting their attention was half the battle let alone getting them to participate fully.

Asperger's is WAY more mild than what was on the rain man. If there was an austism spectrum, it would be way on the other end. For most who have it, you wouldn't really know except they have little obsessions, and various odd motor skill problems. It really depends on the individual.
