Is Amil Imani Anti-Muslim or Just Another American?
"Islam, by its very nature and according to its charter—the Quran—is a radical political movement. It is the Useful Idiot who sanitizes Islam and misguides the populace by saying that the “real Islam” constitutes the main body of the religion; and, that this main body is non-political and moderate." - Amil Imani, Islam's Useful Idiots
His rhetoric sounds like the conservative rhetoric emenating from Washington and the far-right Christians. He does have street creds cos he is a contributor to Global Politician. However, the recent rantings of an Australian mufti misogynically blaming Muslim women for rape has me wondering if it is true that Islam is an enemy of freedom. In contrast, "America's Mayor" Guiliani is "Mr. 9-11". Hmmm... We have an Iranian expatriate giving anti-Islam rants, and a Presidential candidate obsessed about 9-11. Meanwhile, Muslims and other people died in Asia since then, and only the Muslims are discussing it i.e.g 85,000 in the Pakistan quake of 2005 etc. In short, more Muslims have died since the 3,000 innocents lost their lives in NYC, and the post-911 survivor are slowly going AWOL ever since. One 911 survivor I know of suffers from PTSD, and has been disabled since about 2002. She also survived Hurricane Katrina. Earlier this year she had a crisis, and was committed to the 14 day observation at a local NY hospital. Do we blame Islam, terrorism or Rudy for her current dysthymia? IDK, but each of them is just another American. Or, are they? Last edited by jenai; Nov 21, 07 at 06:43 PM. |

Yes, the "Islam is a radical fundamentalist religion" fable is no different from the "Christian fundamentalist right-wing terrrorist" one.
This is why the FBI are gunning for eco-terrorists and animal rights activists, and also why the media pillories David Cunningham while pretending that Olympics 2010 will bring economic prosperity. Meanwhile, creative statistics makes BC Liberal budget look like they are caring about your children and younger siblings. But as we speak, the privatization of BC is hurting us eg Terasen, MSP etc. |

Meanwhile a Muslim lady guard was racially discriminated at an airport in Canada for wearing a skirt too long.
Thankfully we still have human rights in Canada, though those 12 Ontario "militants" are still in the slammer after a CSIS spy helped to entrap them, thus preventing fake ammonium nitrate from being sold to them. As well, Kozemi's death in Iran is not in vain due to Canada's efforts at the UN. However, Amil's recent article gives me pause: "Islam proclaims itself as the only legitimate religion for the entire world, grudgingly granting minor recognition to Judaism and Christianity from whom it has liberally plagiarized many of its dogma. Jews and Christians are allowed to live under the rule of Islam as dhimmis and must pay a special religious tax of jazyyeh. Buddhists, Hindus, Zoroastrians, Baha’is, members of other religions, agnostics, or atheists are not even allowed to live practicing their belief or disbelief." Yes, Buddhists, Hindus, Zoroasterians, Baha'is, even witches and Satanists (le Vey not the coke addicts who murder people while under the delusion they are Satanists or the Hollywood variety popularized by the religious right), agnostics and even the animists of remote areas of the world would be executed for being unbelievers. Someone needs to educate the Islamic scholars, teachers and religious leaders about the liberalization of Islam as means of modernizing Islam. The main fundamental of Islam is not surrender, as Amil disingenuously points out but submission. Submission implies not following human will by conquering ego as per Sufism. Yet Islamic militants consider Sufism to be disrespectful of Allah. Thus, it appears, the dualist nature of monotheism (Allah vs man, believer vs unbeliever, us vs them, "those who are not with us are against us" etc) is at the root of the problem. Meanwhile, JudeoChristian concepts of God and man create a false rift between man and God by the invention of "sin". Thankfully Asian religions tend to circumvent this problem. So perhaps the conflict is as it always is, between a person and innate desires which when externalized has potential to bring down both the person and society.
