best place in Van to buy corsets?
Lookin for one for my misses .. used to date a corset designer, so i know my shit, i'm looking for something good, but fairly low end, ie .. not thousands of dollars, but still nice .. you know .. a nice one. maybe a couple hundred bucks.
ideas? suggestions? saw this ad in 24 for laceembrace.com and i like some but there's not too many, wondering if there are more options out there. |

la vie en rose.
you can find some that look hot while being worn with jeans. try their outlet store as well. only problem with it being v-day coming up and all alot of their stock will probably be in reds and pinks and whites. depends on what color youre looking for. i find their stuff to be worth what you pay for. i wouldnt really consider it high end as i have had to repair some of my peices, but still good enough to put money into. |

Perhaps someone can clear something up for me. Rumour has it, that True Value Vintage has, and continues to do so, operate as a pseudo charitable business. They purchase clothing at a reduced price under the premise that they will be either reselling at a significantly reduced cost, or using a specific amount of clothing/accesories for shear charity. Then, after purchasing the clothing, they turn around and resell at price point that is far more expensive, then your local Value Villages (reletively)?
Anyone know if this is true. I keep meaning a staff member or the owners straight up, but, i also am not out to insult someone severely, and im sure this would be the case, if i was wrong. These rumours could just be a product of someone who doesnt appreciate prices, that dont echo, say a salvation army. Although, VV peddles items that are far higher in qulaity in some cases, the phenomenon im talking about, is actaully somewhat common place. Anyone know the score? |

thanks everybody for their informative replies .. gonna be quite a treck if i wanted to see ALL these stores and look at all my options. At least I have some time to think about it...
and whoever moved this thread to toilet bowl -- i wouldn't mind knowing WHY... It's less than 2 weeks before Valentine's Day and for a lot of people, that's pretty significant. A corset is about the luxury sedan of Valentine's Day gifts imho, trumped only by exotic vacations ... if this isn't relevant "general chatter", then what the hell is??? |

I've got a beautiful $285 one that I've only worn four times in the most delicate of situations.. and I NEVER wear it... I'd sell it to you for $75 |

Elyshia .. hmmmm .. very interesting indeed.

It's a black, steel-boned corset that hooks in the front and goes just over the bust to sort of push you up.
Corsets work on waist size.. you get it a couple of inches smaller than yours. My natural waist is a 28/29 so if Sally's is kind of like that it would fit her. From what I remember she is a similar size to me... I usually take a size 8 dress. I will try and find a photo of me wearing it when I get home. |

Check out this weeks Georgia Straight, there's a fashion article about a swanky Lingerie Shop that sells corsets.
There's also a bunch of pretty neat shops in Gastown that sell them. PS. Why is this in the Toilet Bowl? PSS. Myles I really think you should make a fashion section, or like a health and beauty section. |
