A question to all...

Anyone have any ideas on what would happen if the earth would spin twice as fast around its axis?

time would not exist as we know it. The gravitational pull from the core would be so great that it would probably be nearly impossible to stand up.

Actually Gravity would act at twice as strong as normal and the days would be shorter.

^^ nope. gravity isn't affected by the earth's spin

we would probably age faster. women would get their periods twice a month? wind would probably be a lot crazier therefor carry wind farther..possibly resulting in more arctic area's heating up and melting away. there would be two tides a day. hrmmmm, thats a really good question. somethin to think about

the size of the earth and it's distance to other things. google it mate, gravity is not because of the earth's spin. tho i thought so too until i looked it up

dabbler's correct....gravity's due to mass in relation to other mass.

When there's two cheerios floating in your milk at the end of the bowl...they'll touch and remain close together, it's very much the same principle.

Okay deep breath... time to be nerdy... seriously there will be no change in gravity, the only difference will be the length of days and seasons. Take a look at other planets, the only reason why they have different gravity is because of their mass not orbit. Also if you look at things closer to the sun they have a shorter orbit around the sun, thus making their days and seasons different from our planet. Also it wouldn't affect anything on our planet physically. Basically if you're flying in a plane, the sexy stewardess is serving you coffee at 500mph. If the speed of the plane increases there is no change unless you account for the momentum pickup.

Also, if gravity doubled... you'd just be twice as fat :P

Pheww....
