SIR KUTZ (Half of the Bass-Sick Boys) @ SHAPE|Breaks Thursday April 29th
This Week @ SHAPE...
Sir Kutz (Sirkutz.com/The Bass-Sick Boys - Seattle) After six years of rock n' rollin' in punk bands, Julian Stephens, known now as Sir Kutz, decided to make a musical impact in the underground dance scene. Shortly after he started collecting records in 1999, Julian landed a residency with Electrolush, a popular breakbeat night at Portland’s Cobalt Lounge. This opportunity helped Sir Kutz develop the clean yet technical mixing style he is known for today. Sir Kutz was on the rise and he soon became a member of the Virus Breaks crew (www.virusbreaks.com) Sir Kutz soon caught the eye of a successful West Coast DJ / Producer by the name of Dig-Dug (www.uscevents.com). The two began practicing together and Julian became obsessed with the speed garage sound that Doug had introduced him to. Today they are both armed with an unequalled arsenal of breakbeat, 2-Step, and speed garage kutz. Check out one of their energetic tag team DJ sets as they now frequently play under the duo’s alias, The Bass-Sick Boyz. Julian is finally starting to reap the rewards of his hard work, and has recently relocated himself in Seattle Washington. Sir Kutz is now a household name around the NW and is quickly becoming synonymous with big bassline nuskool breaks and dark pounding electro. In the last year he has opened for Dj Fixx, Tipper, Nigel Richards, Dj Icey, Dieselboy, Rennie Pilgrem, Scissorkicks, Factor E, and Baby Anne. Keep your eye on Sir Kutz as he continues to rise through the ranks. With "Shape" resident...
