Christopher Lawrence presents us with All or Nothing, 12 tracks of solid progressively driving trance that clearly and efficiently display the evolution of the genre he helped define. From his early days of spinning as a no-name at illegal warehouse parties through the past decade, where he's found himself headlining A-list events around the world as one of the planet's top 10 Djs, who better to know what the crowds want than someone who's been catering to thousands of dancefloors worldwide? While working with such top-knotch talented peers as BK and Dave Aude, and vocalists including Laura Derby (of Cirrus fame) and Camille Kramer certainly didn't hurt, it's quite obvious that Lawrence knows his audience and knows them well. Track after track of anthem-caliber peak time trance tunes...one of the only types of languages universally understood and accepted...compose the core of this release. Though some of it may sound a bit too uncomfortably familiar, there's no doubt that CL knows how to throw one hell of a frickin' party. It's the title of Chistopher Lawrence's debut artist album for which he collaborated with Dave Aude on some tracks. Chistopher was the only US DJ to be headlining the inaugural Cream, Gatecrasher and Ministry Of Sound tours of America. On top of that he has reached the ultimate chart recognition as he was awarded Best DJ at the Dancestar U.S. awards. Because of his distinctive trance sound, he often gets described as the US Trancer. All Or Nothing contains 12 trance oriented tracks. The overall pace is quite up tempo, but not in a cheesy mainstream trance way (although some tracks are not too difficult to swallow). Most of the tracks have a certain underground quality because of the deep and murky vibe. Almost every individual track is quite original, shying away from clich's except for some drumrolls but they don't get on your nerves. My personal favourite is "New Day", as this down tempo warm dreamy track will indeed guarantee the positive image of a new day. This first presentation of Christopher Lawrence as an artist is evident for the fact that even though trance music is being condemned as a genre, there are still quality tracks out there which will eventually lift the genre up to a more underground level.
