Grooverider has been DJ'ing since 1986 and has often been labelled "The Godfather" in relation to Drum and Bass. Grooverider started DJ'ing in the mid 80's when he played Hip Hop, Rare Groove and Soul on Pirate radio "Phaze 1" in south London. One night in 1987, Grooverider met Fabio in a nightclub for the first time and they teamed up to DJ out together, playing acid at an event called "Mendoza's" which was held in Brixton. Grooverider has been quoted as saying that he was inspired by other DJ's like Carl Cox and Trevor Fung at that time. In 1990, Grooverider and Fabio managed to gain a residency at "Rage" which proved to be a huge step in both of their careers. Grooverider and Fabio went on to play a very famous set at one of the Universe raves in 1992. Grooverider has continued to stick with Drum and Bass today and he is always one step ahead of the rest, remebering that it was him who inspired Goldie to start producing in the first place. Grooverider has played at all the major raves over the years including World Dance, Universe, Dreamscape etc. and continues to be the pioneer for Drum and Bass music and its ever changing style.
