Sean Walsh- Montreal
After attending his first rave in a small Vancouver warehouse in 1998, Sean had his first exposure to the powerful sound of trance music. Having initially thought that all electronic dance music was poppy mainstream garbage with cookie-cutter vocals and simplistic chord progressions, Sean's first exposure to the deep, dark, driving, yet remarkably uplifting sound of Trance quite literally opened up a whole new world for him. As his music collection drifted more and more from hip-hop and rock to live sets and singles by DJs that the majority of the people on the west coast had never even heard of, so grew his love for the sound of Trance music and the emotion and energy that it conveyed.
Sean got his start as a DJ in early 2000 when a close friend of his was given a job playing top40 at a local club, and needed a few of his shifts covered. Sean fast discovered that he loved to DJ, but only when he was playing the music he loved; it was not long after that his record stack (as well as his visa bills) started to grow at a tremendous rate. While playing several small club gigs around Vancouver, Sean met his close friend Danny Taylor, and together they founded Vancouver's only trance weekly, 'Ascension' Fridays at Club Viva, attracting hundreds of patrons every Friday night to experience the dark, uplifting and most importantly, danceable sounds of trance music.
In late 2001, Sean decided to dabble in trance production as well. With 4 years of violin and another 4 of classical piano to back him up, it quickly became well more than just a simple hobby to pass the time. After creating a few early tracks that received support from Ferry Corsten and Guy Ornadel, Sean created his track "Time Lapse", which he only sent off to a few close friends. As it happened, one of the early recipients of this track, DJ Voiz, played this track at a party in Quebec City with Misja Helsloot headlining. After hearing the track, Misja immediately inquired what it was, and upon finding out that it was an unsigned production, got in contact with Sean as soon as returning to Holland and signed it to his label Gesture Music. As well as finding it's way in almost all of today's top Trance DJ's record cases, Time Lapse has also been played by Armin van Buuren on his A State Of Trance radio show, and features a smashing remix from Sweden's Faraway Project.
Currently, Sean is living in Montreal, Canada, and is continuing his DJ and trance production efforts. His latest production under his new progressive guise, entitled
SW Pres. Jagermaestro- Quarter Century, has been played by Markus Schulz on Global DJ Broadcast as well as DJ's such Perry O'neil. With several revamps and new projects also underway, as well as a collaboration with fellow producer John O'Callaghan in the works, the end of 2004 has seen Sean Walsh explode into the international trance community.
