Handing out free cd's?
Is it cool to do this in a club? If this person asked the bar staff ofcourse, would people be receptive of a free cd? Especially if this cd had something to do with the night? (eg breaks, hiphop trance) Would peeps actually take it home and have listen? If if people liked it would they visit the website? Look for more stuff by the same artist?
I'm just wondering if this really is worth doing. Especially at a club night. Any ideas? Anyone have a good/bad experience doing this? I'm thinking maybe a data mp3 cd with some other cool stuff like pics, bio, web address, maybe a couple of other fun things, coupons related to music (record stores, clothing stores etc), stuff like that? Would people be receptive of something like this, or chuck it in the trash?(Ofourse they have to like the mix/tracks, i'm talking in general) |

I get sets, compilations and cd's all the time. Usually the people throwing the clubnight don't have a problem, it's flyering for other club nights and promoting your show that really pisses them off.
I'm no promoter or established dj or anything, but if it's good then word of mouth, especially in this town - spreads fast. |

yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhh but the people throwing the party are not likely to let you do it.
We had a dude giving out cd's at our party (yalda @ sonar).. and we had to kick him out. even if he asked us, we woulda said no, because we don't know what the fuck is on the cd!? unless you meet up with the peeps before hands, and tell them about your idea and hook them up with a cd. this way they can check and rest assured that you're not handing out trance. |
