That's too bad that your experiences with a venue hold more of a priority than seeing the talent that is there that you clearly want to see!

Typically the time one has at any event is also associated with the friends/group he or she is with. I've been at some of the bunkest club nights and parties in some crazy sketchy venues, but I had a blast simply due to the peeps I was with! (And the liquor helped too!)

I think that a shitty club will stop me from going to see a dj.

I usually pass on raves even when there is a good dj because I hate the location. I think it's a valid reason not to go

40$ for plush is just not worth it.

You're not paying for Plush. You are paying for the talent that can cost WELL over 10K US sometimes to bring there.

I did not want to get into this, but here it goes...

I would rather pay 60$ for the talent at a decent location than pay 40$ at one that smells like puke, and is turned into a mini rave and gets shut down at 3am. I don't like stepping over the people that lounge in the back ON THE FLOOR, on my way to the bathroom. I don't like that every time I go there someone tells me the mezzanine will be open and then they don't and the downstairs is crowded.

I dislike plush and I don't want to go there. it's a valid reason. I don't care if the pope were there. I would not go see him at plush! and yes I am paying for the venue and the talent, and I don't want to drink out of plastic cups.. what else do you want me to say?

Hey Carrie... you have some very valid reasons and I hear ya on those:

1.) the layout of the club isn't the best - one set of bathrooms of the size they are for a venue that holds over 1000 just isn't enough.
---> they are working on this and if I am not mistaken, it is in the reno plans. Slowly but surely the club is getting upgraded in different areas... all in due time.

2.) $40 is not the cost for all shows there, but you're right it's a lot of cash to pay. I guess it all comes down to how much you want to see the talent that is there.

3.) As for getting shutdown at 3AM... that is obviously beyond our control. Clubs used to be open till 4, but you can thank the awesome patrons of various Hip Hop nights for shooting and killing people at multiple clubs.

4.) The mezzanine being open - this frustrates me to death as well. We are told going into the show that it will be open and then for whatever reason Dason who is the venue manager at the last minute, will decide not to. -- This isn't only specific to us, but other promoters that throw shows in the venue. A great example was Spectrum's show @ Plush with Jazzy Jeff, Q-Bert and friends. Of all shows that should be one that they open upsatirs too but did they? Nope... Most likely to save on the cost of security.

5.) Plastic cups - I TOTALLY agree with this. It's so cheezy and cheap but yet again we have the lovely patrons at various Hip Hop clubs to thank for that. Bottles when broken = weapons so they want to avoid that problem all together. That on top of glasses being expensive to replace if broken and a pain in the ass to clean means that plastic is the way to go... for now.

that club has been getting renovated for how long now? and they had another bathroom! I used it once when they were renovating the current bathroom. I don't see why they can't just open the damn thing.

I have a job, it's not like I can't afford to pay for LL, but out of LL, pete tong, or that rave at riverside. I'd rather go to pete tong, check out his shit cause I've never seen him, and new location. I'd rather pay extra for pete!

I do blame a lot of clubs that have poor security, and clubnights and the patrons that attend those night because they ruined the 4am club closure for everyone who knows how to have fun til 4 am.

everytime at plush when it gets sooooo crowded I wish they could just open the mezzanine. They have 4 security guys outside smoking at all times. fuck what a waste.

all I have to say about plastic cups is ... ARRRRRGGGGGG!

BTW....plush is not that bad. Then again I remember when the place was called "the rage" and your feet used to stick to the nappy carpet. So the way it is now is much much beter!
