DJ ZINC (True Playaz/Fabric UK) MONDAY-MAY-23
ATTENTION
Due to circumstances beyond our control (missed flight from London UK to Vancouver) DJ ZINC has been postponed until next MONDAY, MAY 23... We at Automatic regret this unfortunate turn of events, but we'd like to stress that ZINC WILL be playing next Monday. He plays what was to have been the last date of his tour Sunday May 22 in Toronto, and will be flying to Vancouver from there to play the make-up show MONDAY, MAY 23 I know that originally the make-up was planned for Tuesday May 24, but Zinc has family commitments in the UK that he cannot miss, so we've had to bump it ahead a day. I apologize for any confusion, and can only offer the excuse that I am trying to make information available to you as soon as possible. I'll be posting flight details once they've been finalized to further confirm this booking. I have spoken with Zinc and his agent and they both want to express their apologies for what happened, though most of the blame has to be laid at the feet of British Airways. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU If you have already bought a ticket: Your ticket will be valid for the make-up show next Monday. If you are unable to attend and wish to receive a refund then refund at point of purchase. In addition, your tickets will be valid for free admission to the Lotus tonight, and this does not affect either admission next Monday or refund. We will be stamping tickets at the door tonight to ensure one free admission per ticketholder, but rest assured the stamp DOES NOT affect admission next Monday or refund. For those who did not buy a ticket, normal admission of $6 applies for tonight, and it should be a rager tonight regardless, so come down if you can make it out. WITH THAT IN MIND... automatic presents DJ ZINC TRUE PLAYAZ/BINGO/GANJA/FRONTLINE/UK DJ ZINC.com Zinc first got involved with drum & bass music in the early Nineties, Dj-ing on Pirate Radio stations. From there he became the Resident Dj for the London club night Desire (1992 – 1995), before making his first tunes with Swift in 1992. This developed into the eight volume "Swift and Zinc" series on Bizzy B's Progression label. In 1994 Zinc produced his first solo release, the undisputed 1995 anthem "Super Sharp Shooter," a fierce, energetic hip-Hop/Jungle fusion that is widely regarded as being a cornerstone in the Jungle scene. Zinc followed this with the hugely popular "6 Million Ways". Djing progressed steadily, playing out every weekend at the most successful Jungle/Drum and Bass clubs the world over, including Elevation, Desire, One Nation, World Dance, United Dance and Slammin’ Vinyl. Internationally Zinc has played all over the world - Japan, America, Canada, Brazil, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand and every country in Europe. In 1996 Zinc made the much sought after bootleg mix of The Fugees' "Ready Or Not". Following this Zinc formed the True Playaz label with Pascal and DJ Hype. True Playaz and it's sublabels Ganja and Frontline have grown to be mammoths in the industry, putting out undisputed classic bass-heavy tunes at an astonishing rate. In 1997 True Playaz started a club night at the renowned London Club ‘The End’. In 2000 they moved it to super-club Fabric and it is currently the club's most successful night to date. Zinc released "138 Trek" on True Playaz in 2000. This was intended as a down tempo bonus track on an EP. The attention he gained from this release, after it reached number 25 in the UK chart, encouraged him to continue working with different tempos, and saw him set up his own label Bingo to release non drum & bass music by himself and other artists. Bingo has since gone on to become a huge name in the breaks and garage world. Zinc's worked with a broad range of labels, both respected and virtually unknown, done time on the pirate radio circuit and DJ’d at some of the worlds’ most popular clubs. He's also been tapped for remix work for the likes of Kelis, Faithless, Beanie Man, Wookie, Santos, Congo Natty and Mobb Deep Now moving into the album artist realm, Zinc’s highly anticipated debut LP "Faster" was released in 2003. With tempos ranging from downbeat hip-hop to high impact drum and bass and everywhere in between, the album was a hit with DJs all across the breakbeat spectrum and spawned singles in multiple genres. MONDAY MAY 24 The Lotus Sound Lounge 455 Abbott St. along for the ride: Jay-Auto, Matty Pacific, Dabbler, Bias, Myster.E MC Tickets $16 on sale now at Active Pass, Beat Street, Boomtown, On Deck and Zulu.
