Alright! Are you ready for the long weekend?
First stop: SiGNAL Saturdays residents: Male Model Machine + Andy Clockwork On Saturday May 19th, Signal throws another Long Weekend Bash like no other with the boyz from MaleModelMachine Male Model Machine is Stephan Fisher and Alex DeGrace, both native to BC. The group was formed when the duo did a remix of DJ Timeline's "Lipstick", which sparked the desire to work on original productions as a team. Their sound is dubbed as bass-driven electro and techno, a style which has been influenced by artists such as Jesper Dahlback and Destillat, as well as the classic sounds of acid house and techno. As djs their style is a full assault, an uncompromising barrage of hard basslines and beats that don't let up. This has given them a signature style many have come to know them for, both in their productions and on the decks. "Writing music is what we live to do, plain and simple," says Alex. "Music is the best reason to get up in the morning, and even better reason to stay up late at night. It's a creative outlet and a passion." Male Model Machine has released three EPs and two remixes, and has many more in the works. Their "Electro is Played Out" EP included remixes from industry players Chopstick and the Cheshire Cats, and saw support from DJs around the world, including Women Affair (Spain), Andrea Doria (Italy), David Ekenback (Sweden), and Chuck Leplay (LA). The EP was also reviewed in San Fransisco's XLR8R magazine. Forthcoming projects include releases on Blufin (Germany) and Fakt (London), as well as a small European tour that is in the works this summer. Plus SIgnal weekly resident Andy Clockwork Cover only $10 before midnight, or if you feel special and lucky, email [email protected] for g-love before 5pm Saturday.
