summerlove 02. What do u think?
summerlove 2002.
i am very dissapointed. (thunderbird stadium)venue sucks, lineup sucks, and everything about it sucks, except for the skate ramp and all. summerlove is a party to be away from the city on a big field where it's pitch black and lazers light up the sky. all the headliners r house dj's. where da hell is the big time trance, breaks, jungle etc. headliners. the hip hop stage aint even that great. i saw rectangle on new years and he wasn't to impressive. last years lineup was way better than what this years gonna be. what about nipple piercing. r they gonna have that this year? checkmate and concise? hell my friend profe-c raps better than them. summerlove 2002? herting. what a joke! i'll still go just to c how it is, but i know it won't beat the other summerloves and i aint payin more than $30 for a ticket |

maybe if you knew how much money ghouse lost last year your post would have been a little bit different. if people would support big events in the numbers of old then they would be able to put on a better show, but after last years turnout and money loss, why bother?

yes true... but,
think of why they lost a lot of money and the slack of much people showin up. #1: they never told anyone where the venue was till a few days earlier. cause of this people didn't have anything planned out like camping, renting cars, booking off work and so on. for massive events like this people must know where there gonna go. #2: the venue was in hope. and the final and most important of all #3: advertising. they barely advertized for this. i remember summerlove 2000 they advertized like crazy. i remember going to the fireworks and there was this huge overhead projection saying summerlove.com on the side of this tall building right in the centre of the crowd. just think how many 100's of people they got going to summerlove just from that 1 advertisement. |

well every one new the date, so why would they need to worry about renting cars or booking off the date for work. they also did let every one know how far east bound it was going to be from van city, so i think most people guessed it was going to be at popkum, or in the general area.
it wouldnt have really mattered where the venue was i dont think, and where could they have had a party that size any where but some place like that. the other summerloves that made so much money werent close either. in regards to advertising, summerlove is a bunch of hype, and as its been happening for 10years it doesnt need that much advertising any more i dont think. also advertising costs a LOT of money as well, the people who wanted to find summerlove, easily could. besides what did you think of the party last year any ways? i thought the house stage was boring, the breaks stage wasnt so hot either, i spent most of my night at the trance stage but was still disapointed, and wasnt all too impressed with the hiphop section either, although im not the biggest fan of hiphop... im personally looking forward to magicmountain...mmmm beer! :) ..sebcoe.. |

last years summerlove was dissapointing but i still had fun. the breaks stage rocked my world. i was there most of the time. icey, x, and ak1200 were nuts. the hip hop stage wasn't too bad either. there was some crazy hype at times there. hell, is there even a breaks stage at this years summerlove?
all i have to say is "why can't we have parties like usc" in seattle. yes i know our city is smaller and we can't handle big parties like that. that lineup is unbelievable. too bad i'm missin it. shitty deal! |

Dissapointed about no big healiners djs.......The venue is pretty shitty too......The rave scene in Vancouver is officailly mainstream after this event! And ya wonder why they always lose money on this event....no one really gives 2 shits about seeing local djs as the whole line-up. Gonna go check it out, but im not expecting any miracles.............

No big headliners?......Do you even know who Erick Morillo, QBert, Tony Touch, and Robbie Rivera are?.........You party people in vancouver should explore more than just the "super-star" dj from the UK and the same ol florida breaks djs that have been repeatedly booked in vancouver for the past couple years. If House music does'nt do anything for you then check out Morillo and Rivera, they might actually change your thoughts on House. Or if you want breaks and hip-hop then you got Q-bert and Tony Touch. It could use some live hip-hop crews though, that would be nice. Theres a lot of awesome djs that are'nt florida breaks or from the UK, this is a good chance to find that out. Line-up is really good, but everyhting else about Summerlove will lose it's touch if its at a stadium in the city.
And sorry dude, but the vancouver party scene has been mainstream and beyond for quite some time now. |

Ready to discuss!
Hello all,
I am the one responsible for all lineup and many other important descisions made to Summerlove this year. I am willing to answer any questions you might have about this years show. Please think before you ask, I've had to respond to a few not so bright questions recently. Feel free to ask anything and should be able to comply. all the best, Rick GHouse |

holy fuckin whiner. you just finished saying how much it's going to suck, but you're going to go anyways. why bother? so you can bitch and moan about it afterwards and say how much it sucked and what a waste of time it was? by paying to go you're still supporting something you think is shitty so why not go to something else that night... who knows maybe you'd actually have fun! or are you one of those weird people who purposely does things they know they dislike just so they can have an exscuse to complain? |

OK.......so maybe my reply might be a little off. Yes raves became mainstream a while ago, so im wrong there. But i've been to the 2 past summerloves before, and they are nothing like this one is. Sure maybe theres change in it all, but i personally am not into house or hip-hop. THe shitty thing is that its not gonna feel like going to summerlove, its gonna feel like going to a concert at t-bird stadium............

just don't look at this as being a rave... just take it as something like a party to end the summer.... i dunno.. tryign to make the best out of this. =) i got my ticket i'm still goin... hope fully i'll see a lot of u there.. buh bye.

Just to clear up a few DJ things:
Erick Morillo and Robbie Rivera are house DJs yes, but they play big party house. For huge crowds, not club house, find out the big difference. All types of music are availible at Summerlove again. Markie Gee is becoming Florida's biggest trance DJ, and we all know Kenny Glasgow is Toronto's best techno DJ. plus you have all your locals, some will be playing special breaks and jungle sets as well. Just wait for the surprises! www.summerlove.com |

I'll be going to this, but solely for Q-Bert, Rectangle and Tony Touch. I don't consider this a party. In my opinion a party without breaks and/or jungle ain't a party. I admit that this looks like a phat hip hop night. But don't ya think that 1 hip hop stage is enough???
