Deepen Discs 003 Release Party

This Saturday June 20th at the Lotus Sound Lounge with DJs Vernon Douglas and Tyler Stadius

Tyler Stadius and Jay Tripwire-the spirit ep.

After the incredible success of the first and second releases, Deepen Discs
is proud to present the third chapter in our continuing saga to rid the
world of stale, lifeless music. We are again very happy to be presenting
new tracks from current house phenom Jay Tripwire, a regular participant in
our Saturday night shenanigans. Teaming up with Jay this time for his first
release on Deepen is the man who has possibly been Vancouver's greatest
musical export, Tyler T-bone Stadius. Tyler's busy international schedule
is a testament to his legendary skills on the 1's and 2's, and as a Deepen
resident he never fails to rock the casbah. Like all good citizens living
in the age of corporate globalization, Jay and Tyler decided that for each
to try and dominate would be counter-productive. Hence a merger of epic
proportions was engineered, and if this record is any indication the
shareholders are going to be very, very happy.

The Spirit is a percussion-fueled track that has THAT bassline, the one that
pulls you away from the bar and onto the floor with a drink in each hand.
You think you're done for after you spill one of the drinks on the redhead
in the push up bra, but her muscle-headed boyfriend forgets all about you
when the acid line drops in. Who can get mad with this kind of sick groove
rolling? Screeches of delight emanate from the bouncing crowd and you're
spared a humiliating beating all because of the DJ heroes here at Deepen.

The flip, Womba Womba, is a tool with teeth, hitting hard with a driving,
conga-fuelled funk groove and group vocal accents in all the right places.
As a DJ this is the kind of track you recognize and snatch up in the shop,
the kind that has that magic ability to fit together with all your other
records, the kind that gives mixes the important push that moves a crowd
from the trot of satisfied complacency to whirling dervishes of jack mania.
And what the hell is that wobbly Womba Womba noise, anyway? You've heard it
before, you're sure... maybe from an old record? From your bathtub when the
water finally drains? The noise the bottom of your shoe makes on tile when
you come in from the rain? Whatever it is, count on it to perk up ears
everywhere inside the club, and count on this record to be at the front of
your box for a long time.
