Edumacated - Sept 13th
Fundamental Entertainment inc. and
are pleased to announce a chance for everyone to go back to school…. Enjoy a Higher state of learning at Edumacated September 13th, 2003 Featuring: From San Francisco UFO! tears up the turntables with his own incomparable style. Prolific in the studio, he is one of the most innovative producers in the U.S. A Bay Area native, UFO! pioneered the San Francisco Drum and Bass scene and co-founded the much respected Phunckateck collective and forged a new community in music. "We're like a family," is how he describes the San Francisco Drum & Bass scene, "We have mutual respect, and we can create with no boundaries." UFO! is one-third of the creative force of Phylum Recordings. With his co-conspirators Sage and Elektra, they launched their own label in hopes of releasing not only their own tracks but also releasing tracks from artists who might not have a chance to have their music heard. UFO!'s drive and genius for producing tracks, his extensive discography, and his innate ability to cause mayhem on the dancefloor, made Phylum a natural progression for him. With a mix CD out on Vortex called Maelstrom and an upcoming all original material album coming out on Thermal Recordings, called The Future is Listening, UFO! is heading into new territory. He is producing with an impressive list of artist including Hive, Echo, and Techno producer John Tejada. He is currenlty expanding his repetoire and exploring his limitless talent by playing live. With his self-described "Bladerunner Funk" style, UFO! is constantly touring, but even with his heavy schedule, he takes every opportunity he gets and heads straight back into the studio to start producing his next aural assault. His latest project has been remixing a track for rock band, Tinfed, called Drop, and he also is releasing Crack Whore Sleeze on Phylum. Featured in magazines such as URB, XLR8R, Lotus, Mixmag, Knowledge, and many other 'zines, UFO! is one of the most sought after producers in the U.S. Record labels across the country clamor for a UFO! remix, which guarantees a dance floor hit. His dub plates have become collector's items as he draws his own artwork, by hand, on every cover. His creativity and individualized flare carries over into his artwork, which is also sought after by designers and publications. UFO! is highly respected not just in the Drum and Bass community but also by DJs and producers in other genres worldwide. Accolades seem to follow UFO! as he was honored as the "Best Drum & Bass DJ" by SF-Nite's Clubby Awards 2001. After having impressively completed a successful tour in 2000 with fellow Phunckateck icon Sage and German producer Panacea, it was apparent that UFO! was in demand in Europe. He returned to Europe on a very successful tour sponsored by Circa Footwear in June of 2001. UFO! still receives fan mail for his 1999 anthem, Enemy Infiltration, which blazed across the U.S. and abroad. The string arrangement on Enemy Infiltration was so stunning that producers from the revered Trouble on Vinyl label from the U.K. were compelled to use a sample for one of their own releases called Mission Control. For inspiration, he listens to sounds and other types of music and is always eager to learn new production technics. Producing with the detail of a skilled artisan, UFO! continues to work his own blend of magic on the turntables and in the studio. UFO!, with his world-renowned dexterity on the decks, shreds the sound systems every week and ignites dance floors all across the U.S. and around the world. download UFO! But that reminds me, the Fundamental and h2o crews are gonna be running most of these but if anyone wants to run their own exhibit (even for just part of the night or something) because you are supernerds too, just email me @ [email protected] and we can talk about the viability of what you would like to do! |
