IMPORTANT note to promoters
re: recent party cancellations/busts
A number of local promoters have gotten used to throwing our name on their flyers as a ticket outlet without asking us first. From this point on, if your event location is not (a) legal and (b) 100% confirmed, PLEASE do not put our name on your flyer. we WILL NOT sell your tickets if you don't meet these requirements. The $2/ticket we make is not worth the hassle of giving cash refunds. Plus, when we've got people lining up for refunds of $30-50 tickets at the slowest point of the week, it eats up our $200 float pretty quickly, and most of these people don't take too kindly to being turned away. Ultimately, we've come to feel that in these situations, flakiness & bad planning on part of the promoters is reflecting badly on us, as we're the ones taking the patron's money and in most cases are their only identifiable link to the promoter.
Boomtown will continue to support the underground party scene by displaying promotional materials in our shops, and of course we still encourage up & coming promoters to do whatever they can to throw a good event - but due to the amount of parties lately that have been targeted for police/fire department busts, or simply poorly organized, we can no longer handle ticket sales for events of a less than 100% legit nature. And while we do feel that it's the ticket buyer's risk when attending an illegal event, that knowledge is obviously not widespread enough for us to assume that people won't come chasing after us for a refund if the party goes south.
