The twisted "Experience" rumor explained
The event is from 2pm-2am
These are some typical arguments I can see brewing... The good:
The bad
This was an actual quote from Riel BridgePoint market represents a dream that has taken close to seven years to realize. It’s taken all of us a long time to grow to the point where we were ready to take on a venue like this, but make no mistake, BridgePoint represents the future of Electronic Dance Culture in Vancouver… We just need a little help from you, our friends. A big venue like this is needed if the scene is going to flourish. We need to get away from giving all of our money to the Vancouver Police and venues like the PNE and their unionized staff, none of whom reinvest anything in the scene. This type of “one stop shop” for Vancouver Promoters, with permanently installed sound, lighting and lasers, will benefit everybody. Just like it was when the Plaza of Nations was in full swing, the shows will get bigger, the promoters and everyone involved (visuals, sound, dancers, DJ’s…) will make more money, which means more money will go into the shows and ultimately your enjoyment. Best of all, the size of the talent and the tours that we can attract to Vancouver will come up to the standards of other world class cities, if we have a solid venue that will finally accommodate them. BridgePoint can already take in excess of 6,000 people, which will make it the largest party space in the lower mainland. With some renovations, we could get that number up in excess of 10,000. Now we’re talking about some massive parties. We need your support this New Years Eve, to show the city that the lower mainland is ready for a new venue and that we will not be easily pushed aside. We will gather and celebrate together peacefully and not let them spoil our fun even if they do make us play by their rules. In order to make this an evening to remember, we’ve extended our show from 9 to 12 hours. We will open our doors at 2 in the afternoon and we will close at 2AM. This will guarantee that you won’t miss the countdown at midnight (how many New Years Eves have you spent stuck in the line-up, waiting to get in?) and that you will be fully exhausted by the time we ask you to leave. Furthermore, we’re adding a Bar-B-Q, a volleyball tournament, a movie theatre and rides and video games to the show, just to make sure that you have enough to do with all that extra time. To top it all off, we’re dropping our ticket price so the first 2500 tickets will now be only $50 instead of just the first 1000 tickets. Come get down with us on New Years Eve and witness the birth of a new era. Experience 2002. |
