UPDATED - Spooky 9 Information/Line-up

My apologies everyone for the delay in posting this message as there was a TON of back and forth that has been happening with us and the city. Top that off with this past weekend being a 3-day bender with my birthday, and that leaves me to post the info today!

BACKGROUND
Several weeks ago when I made the venue announcement, Swing Kids and Twisted received verbal approval from the city that the security/fire plans looked good and we were a go for the 5 room venue. This venue consisted of Plush, The Showroom and another larger area which gave us the additional 3 separate rooms we needed for the show.

Earlier this week, the city retracted there previous approval for the 3 rooms as they didn't realize at the time of approval that this area of the building was not "officially zoned" for occupancy. Despite our efforts to work around this clerical problem over the past week, there is no way to get the area re-zoned in enough time for Spooky.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
As a result of this, we had to reduce the number of rooms to two. We know A LOT of people very much want to see our headliners that we have booked so we kept six out of the eight - LISA LASHES, M.I.K.E. PUSH, ALPHAZONE, RANK 1, SKOOL OF THOUGHT and IAN CAREY will ALL be coming and headlining. -- ALL of these DJ's are 100% confirmed, contracts signed and flights booked.

Unfortunately the two I had to remove were Total Science and A. Skillz due to the reduction in the room count that we were initially approved for. This obviously means that a LOT of the locals we booked were unfortunately also cancelled.

QUESTIONS

Although a set back, Swing Kids and Twisted are still VERY much committed to throwing Spooky. Challenges like this one will be thrown at you when legalizing new spaces to throw parties... something we all knew needed to be done now that Enterprise Hall is gone. Just as we have done for an extremely long time now, we will overcome this obsticle by stepping up and taking the lead at creating new spaces to throw shows at. Because we all know that you can only throw so many shows at the Coliseum.

I want to assure you that we have not reduced the budgets for sound, lighting and props in our rooms so you can bet that they are going to be looking and sounding REALLY good.

In all of the parties I can remember, I have never seen six out of town MAJOR headliners at a two room show proving once again that Spooky IS Halloween.

FURTHER DETAILS

Spooky is an ALL AGES event
It will run from 10PM until 8AM and is fully permitted and licensed to do so
Liquor will not be served as it is an all ages event
Full concession will be made available
A separate VIP area will also be available

so now that 3 rooms are gone, all the extra sound/lighting will be increased in the 2 main rooms, right? ;)

Hahahahahahha... well, as I'm sure Gary will confirm as well, we are going to be bringing a LOT to these two rooms!

someone should have closed this thread as soon as Kraig finished posting..

now will we have another 80 pages of 'why didnt you keep so and so, how come this is, who is going.... etc'

prepare for the worst.

Bah, who cares, just stoked to be playing this show. Its really sad that this happened. A five room party would've been dope. Does this mean that capacity has changed at all Kraig?

did chilliwack ever pop into your head while all of this was going on? i guess that would create a bigger fuss than scaling the party back and dropping two headliners.

what's the party capacity now?

It did, but time and time again it is proven that party kids now are extremely spoiled with local/Vancouver-based venues. To throw Spooky that far away from the city with so many other events going on in the city, would be suicide!

As for capacity, I actually don't know the final number!

ya, i didn't really like the fact of 5 rooms anyways, people would be spread out a lot, and the rooms would contain a lot less people

yeah, it's too bad though. i totally had fun at the heritage centre last year.

whatever you wanna call us is dissapointed with no hip hop room
but we are still stoked about Stimulant J playing alongside the rest of the
boys
So lets get this show on the road
and forget the drama , I know spooky is halloween ( well thas what everybody says) since this is my first and stim's 3rd or fourth or wutever Lets show everybody WHY SPOOKY IS HALLOWEEN ! so fuck all the haters

That was just one DJ... imagine SIX! and just pack the place Spooky style.

You mean 4... 4 DJ's are playing in PLUSH and the other two are in the other room.

And we are also bringing in props so the stage will be more intense than what it was at Armin.

I think the one thing with this new format that you can all be ASSURED of is the vibe that's going to be there. It is VERY hard to maintain a really good vibe at a massive for various reasons. In this type of controlled environment, I know this is going to be a good time!

I'm kinda disapointed Total Science was one of the reason why I decide to go to spooky. In theory you should of cancelled one of the Trance DJs ie. Rank 1... and Kept total science cause you would still have 2 trance djs spining and the Dnb'ers can get still their fix. Logical yes, no? but anyhow it's still an awsome party...
