Flyering inside clubs
This message is for all club, party, benefit, concert promoters, or anyone trying to sell anything inside of clubs.
1- Great to see people putting effort into their shows/endevour, lots of new promoters have popped up over the past year 2- Some nice flyers out there right now 3- Clubs are often owned by some odd characters, who usually don't really care about any electronic scene or events 4- Club managers / staff/ door men don't like it when you promote for something else in their establishment 5- I'm seeing way too many people are leaving their flyers inside of clubs over the past year. This applies to my events and most people's, and applies mainly to the new promoters coming out of the party scene. 6- After talking to several other club promoters, they are amazed that no one ever has the courtesy to ask if can flyer inside, they just leave their junk all over 7- If anyone gets caught flyering inside of one of my events, you will be escorted out, and most likely banned from the establishment Sorry to bring this up, but the party scene seems to be brewing this feeling that they can do whatever they want, whever they want. You will never seen any of the current club promoters flyering inside other people's clubs, and I would hope most of the new promoters can follow this as well |

I was at sonar one friday and I noticed there was flyers on the tables for a competing club night (one that just happened to fall on a friday night too!) and I wondered if these people had any notion of what promoter courtesy was..I thought that was preeeetty tacky.

totally tacky, something that i personally don't condone....i've had to pick up my own flyers inside other clubs before because someone that was working for me got overanxious....if you're at a club and you're flyering for an event on a night when that club is open, then don't put your flyers on tables period...if you're at a club and you're flyering for a night when that club is closed then ASK!!
if you want to flyer inside a club just carry around a stack inside your back pocket, and give them to people on a one-to-one basis, engage them in conversation about your show/party/benefit...you get a better response that way anyways... I probably wouldn't chuck someone for catching them flyering inside, i'd just tell them to stop. the staff of a club WILL chuck you though..... S.on O.f a B.itch... :) Last edited by automatic; Oct 28, 04 at 04:23 AM. |

I know what you are speaking of.
Personally though, I always ask the people running the night if I can flier. The one time I didn't and was called on it (at a special event), I told the staff I had permission from the people throwing the event, which was true I did! Now when I ask them if it's cool for me to flier, they look at me as if to say "Like you have to ask!" Then they say "Of course!" :) |
