Intention VI - Tribal Harmonix New Year's Event

Intention VI

Tribal Harmonix New Year's Retreat

Intention is a 5 day retreat featuring workshops, performance pieces and epic celebrations. On Dec 31st, Intention will host one of the greatest tribal dance events on the west coast. Featuring 3 rooms of music and an assortment of DJs from all over Canada and United States, this will be one massive party that you won't want to miss.

The DJs:

The Rec Hall - our main dance room fetauring trance and techno of epic proportions
8:00pm-10:00pm Deception (warms us up with atmospheric drum and bass, triphop/hiphop and turntablism)
10:00pm-10:30pm Opening circle (everyone gathers outside for a unifying circle)
10:30pm-12:00am J Carbon (big and bangin tech house smeared with breaks)
12:00am-1:30am DJ Bad (bangin techno to make your pulse rise)
1:30am-2:00am Intention Ritual (everyone gathers outside to witness the ritualistic side of our community)
2:00am-4:00am Jintonik (booming progressive house and essential psytrance)
4:00am-6:00am 1Drop (sunrise psytrance with a few breaks tossed in)
6:00am-8:00am A New Year Surprise for Everyone
8:00am-noon the decks open up and the party goes on

The Dining Hall - our 2nd dance room featuring stomping breakbeats
8:00pm-10:00pm Alec Fernandes (warming up the room with caribbean reggae, dancehall and hip-hop)
10:00pm-10:30pm Opening circle (everyone gathers outside for a unifying circle)
10:30pm-12:00am Joshua James (rich breakbeats with spoken word and charisma)
12:00am-1:30am Timothy Wisdom (spontaneous combustion of turntables due to severe breakbeats)
1:30am-3:00am Corrior (reformed nu-skool breaks - hard and heavy)
3:00am-4:30am Kriyatrix (drifting on audio clouds of breakbeats)
4:30am-6:00am Mazeguider (dark breaks blended into progressive house and then onto driving techno)
6:00am-7:30am andabeat (breakfast and reggae...ahhhhhh)

Fordham Lodge - our cozy headtrip space
10:00pm-10:30pm Opening circle (everyone gathers outside for a unifying circle)
10:30pm-12:00am Nori (ambient soundscapes drifting into bleeps and sweeps)
12:00am-1:30am andabeat (nu-jazz, funky downtempo and triphop)
1:30am-3:30am Lady Ra (world groove rising into ethnic bhangra)
3:30am-5:00 doktor J (psybient headtrips blended with psy downtemp0)
5:00am-6:30am Adrian (glitchy music for androids and dubby tones from the origin)
6:30am-8:00am Taalmala (etherial soundscapes with morning drums)

Event Information:

Intention is an event where we do not make a distinction between event attendee and event organizer. Everyone helps make the retreat an amazing experience and your connections will last a lifetime.

This year, Intention will be held at Camp Jubliee, a 30 minute boat ride from Deep Cove, up Indian Arm, to a beautiful remote location with an astounding view. Come experience the New Year surrounded by warm friends and a spectacular nature.

Ticket Information:

You may choose to come for as many of the 5 days as you wish. Tickets for just the New Year's Eve event cost $45 and include the boat ride and a breakfast buffet in the morning. There are two sailings:
1) 7pm returning at 9am
2) 8:30pm returning at 10:15am

Tickets are available from the following locations:
1) The Urban Shaman, 307 West Hastings St.
2) The Melting Point, 1111 Commercial Drive.

Tickets are on sale until Dec. 23rd so don't miss out!

How to Get There:
You have to get to the boat dock in Deep Cove to catch your sailing. There is no overnight parking near the boat dock so we suggest everyone take public transit or arrange a ride.

Getting to Deep Cove via the bus is VERY EASY. Here's how:

From Hastings and Commercial: Approx. 42 minutes; $3.
Take #160 PoCo Stn E. to the Kootenay Loop. Transfer to #28 Capilano College to the Phibbs Exchange. Transfer to #211 bus to Deep Cove.

From Horseshoe Bay (for you Coasties): Approx. 1.5 hrs; $2.
Take #250 Vancouver to Park Royal. Transfer to #239 Capilano College to the Phibbs Exchange. Transfer to #211 bus to Deep Cove.

There's a whole crew of tekno collective kids coming from Calgary. Looks like this will be a reconvergence of the tribes.

Hey, on that note. Has anyone on this forum ever been to a Tribal Harmonix event?

Tribal Harmonix tries to stear away from the "R" word.

...it's elf training camp! :089:

Anyway, the deadline for NYE ticket purchase has been extended until Dec. 23rd. We have to let the camp know how many people are coming so they can prepare food for everyone. There are only 160 of these tickets available and they sell fast. I'm not sure how many are left.

There are 140 tickets for the Intention retreat (for people who are not just coming to the NYE party and want to come for some of the other 5 days - you don't have to come for all 5 days). There are a handful of these tickets left and they will stop being sold on Dec. 19th as the camp has to prepare for our invasion/arrival.

If you're interested in coming to the Intention retreat and/or the NYE party, you can find more information from the Intention website:
http://www.givadam.com/intention6/intention6.htm

or you can email questions to Warren (our registration guy):
"intention" at "givadam" dot "com"

Intention is a wicked experience that will stay with you for a long time. It's not just a party...it's a culture.

If you've been to OM or Burning Man, this is similar.

I should also add that we have open Intention planning meetings where everyone gets to come and help organize what happens during the 5 days of Intention. This is a great way to start meeting people and getting involved in the community. If you have art projects or performance ideas, this is where you can find out how to integrate them into the retreat.

The next meeting is on Tues, Dec. 14th from 7-10pm at Nick's Poi Studio (2280 E Hastings @ Nanaimo). Everyone is invited to come and help co-create Intention.

The final open planning meeting (and the last day to register for the 5 day retreat) is on Sunday, Dec. 19th from 1-4pm at Nick's Poi Studio (2280 E Hastings @ Nanaimo). After this, we must tell the camp how many people are coming so they can prepare for us.

Tickets for just the New Year's Eve party will still be for sale until Dec. 23rd but if you want the full experience, you need to sign up by Dec. 19th.

Tickets for the Intention Retreat have sold out!

But there are still some tickets left for the New Year's Eve Party on Dec 31st. Imagine, bringing in the New Year, deep in the forest, fully safe and secluded, with 300 tribal kidz in an amazing environment.

Tickets are $45 and include 3 rooms of music, mystical tribal culture, a boat ride to/from the camp (from Deep Cove), and a buffet breakfast on the morning of Jan 1.

Tickets are available from the following locations:
1) The Urban Shaman, 307 West Hastings St.
2) The Melting Point, 1111 Commercial Drive.
3) Select Tribal Kidz around town...if you know 'em, ask.
