Hip Hop Update
GMAN & RIZK CLUB, PARTY, EVENTS, LISTING, CALENDAR, NEWSLETTER, FOR VANCOUVER, CANADA DATES; January 2002
Happy New Year to all of you! Thanks so much to all those who support us night after night, event after event, we truly appreciate it! We will continue to put our 110% efforts into giving you the best in events, DJs, concerts, club nights, and parties. If you thought 2001 was hot, 2002 will be even better. We ended the year with three consecutive “sold out” nights (Grande Wednesdays at Sonar, our brand new Formula Thursdays at Element, and International Fridays at Wettbar) and a banging “sold out” New Years Party. Props to all those who bought tickets early. For those who didn’t here’s some advice; when you see something you are interested in, buy your tickets right away. Don’t wait to see what everybody else is doing because by then you will be left out. Being that it is a fresh New Year, we will be campaigning for our e-mail newsletter. For those that enjoy receiving the news and benefits of this letter can pass it on to your friends. As you know we often offer free guest lists, concert announcements, and release information. For 20 e-mail addresses of your friends (please make sure the people you send us would be people that could use this, no grandmas etc…) we will offer you and 10 friends VIP guest lists (your own private party) to the club night of your choice (one of our Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday nights). Simply reply back with the e-mail addys, and give me the date that you request. For 50 or more we will mail you over 25 free passes to our events plus give you the 10 friends guest list. THIS WEEK!! FORMULA THURSDAYS Thursday, Jan.3 at Formula Thursdays (Element 801 W.Georgia St.) Last week was the “sold out” opener of our brand new night called Formula Thursdays. Check the purest in hip-hop, reggae, and old school (less commercial music) with DJs Kemo (Rascalz), Flipout, J-Swing (Worldwide Ride). Element is a new Vancouver spot with a half dance, half chill/lounge atmosphere. $6 at door. This Friday!! LADIES NIGHT Friday, Jan.4 at International Fridays (Wettbar 1320 Richards St.) All ladies get special privileges the first Friday of every month…no line-ups, cd giveaways, and more all night long. DJs playing the hip-hop, r&b, old school, reggae is GMAN, Physik, and Wax. $8 at door, ladies by-pass line all night. New release!! 1200 DJ BATTLE Wednesday, Jan.16 at Grande Wednesdays (Sonar 66 Water St.) 1200 lbs and Numark present the 1st DJ Battle of 2002. 1st Prize Numark S-12 Mixer, 2nd Prize Shure M44-7, 3rd Prize Headphones. Special guest DMC and ITF champion DJ G-NIUS. 11pm start time upstairs and call Layz at 604-735-1200 to enter. The r&b, hip-hop, reggae will be in the main room with DJs GMAN, Wax, and guests. GMAN & Rizk’s hot CD picks Jay-Z Unplugged- Backed by the Roots band, this CD is a must for all Jigga fans. Jay-Z flips all of his hot tracks nicely. Nas “Stillmatic”- Nas is back! He has the hunger as he takes on Jay-Z, Prodigy, Cormega, and Nature. A true lyricist. Jill Scott “Live”- If you are down for the real soul/r&b, you will love this 2 CD recording. Swollen Members “Bad Dreams”- Canadian Juno award winners. Support Canadian hip-hop.
