Freedom @ The Plaza of Nations , March 9,02
D’Oh Boy, Yo-Yo & LoungeX productions are proud to present,
Freedom Saturday march 9th 2002 @ The Plaza of Nations Vancouver, BC Canada FREEDOM Everyone wants to be happy. Even people who don't use religious language want to know Truth and to be Free. Freedom of speech and expression, the freedom from want, and the freedom from fear. Join with us as we celebrate, as a unified dance culture, these freedoms which are taken for granted so often. A formulation of worldwide social and political objectives. DJ Pulser - UK If you have been anywhere near a major club in the last 4 years, chances are you have got off your nut to a track written, remixed or produced by Andy Perring. 1999 saw ‘Spiritualised’ by THE OLMEC HEADS released on Neo Records. The track was a huge hit with all the major-league DJ’s. Alex Gold of ‘Extravaganza Records’ described Spiritualised as ‘The Biggest’ tune heard at Privilege in Ibiza throughout ‘99. The Olmec Heads, followed up with a string of top remixes for artists such as Moby, Apollo 440 and The Space Brothers before releasing their follow-up, a menacing trance tune called ‘Magicman’. During this period Andy branched out and created ‘PULSER’. The first track under his new guise was ‘CLOUDWALKING’, released on fledgling UK label ATCR. Cloudwalking again smashed it and established Pulser as a major new name in Trance. Never one to stand still, Andy is also one half of ‘INSIGMA’ alongside Steve Helstrip of ‘The Thrillseekers’. Insigma’s first release also titled ‘Insigma’ hit the mark with Pete Tong who played it week in, week out on Radio One. Mixing driving progressive trance rhythms with blissed-out melodies, Insigma’s follow –up ‘Open our Eyes ’ is pure dynamite, the fuse of which was lit by Paul Oakenfold and DJ Tiesto. Both DJ’s have continued to support the record since its initial promo’s were released in Jan 2001. VC records have since snapped it up and will unleash the new vocal mixes early 2002 and if 25,000 people at this years Gatecrashers Summer Sound System are anything to go by, it is set to become one of 2002’s biggest Anthems. Looking forward to 2002, Andy will be releasing a new ‘PULSER’ single in the spring to coincide with his increasingly busy DJ schedule, which encompasses select international and national work. His remixes continue to dominate the floors of Gatecrasher, Godskitchen and Passion, with current monsters including JOSE AMNESIA’s – ‘THE ETERNAL’ and his dark & tribal mix of MATT DAREY’s classic ‘BEAUTIFUL’, which has just received the accolade of being made Judge Jules’ ‘Tried and Tested’ tune. Future remixes include FAITHLESS -‘DRIFTING AWAY’ and is just about start work on the new DIDO single, off her new album. Andry Nalin ( of Nalin & Kane) – Germany Muzik magazine called it "universally appealing", and Mixmag emphatically announced that "german trance and house never sounded so sophisticated and sensual". Smashing all the european charts, and selling over 200,000 copies in Germany alone, "Beachball" made the summers of 1997 and 1998 unforgettable, and turned Andry Nalin and Harry Cane (better known as Nalin & Kane) into two of the most revered producers in contemporary dance music. Famous today for his hypnotic DJ sets at world-renowned clubs like Space in Ibiza and Renaissance in London, Andry was bom in the early seventies in Düsseldorf, Germany. In the early 90's Andry was infected by the new sounds of trance and acid house. Becoming a DJ, his first sets were heard at clubs like Face, Noh Club and the legendary Checker's. His resedency for the Sunday sessions at Düsseldorf's most popular club, Ratinger Hqf, lasted nearly two years and clubbers from all around germany came just for this grand finale of the weekend, to listen to Andry's hypnotic sound. Open Your Eyes is possibly one of the best trance songs ever, same with Cloudwalking.
For those of you who saw Oakenfold at Area One, the last track he played was Insigma - Open Your Eyes. Never seen so much drug-enduced euphoria in my life =P Both times Tiesto has been at the Commodore he's played Pulser - Cloudwalking as the 2nd last track of his set, and he played Open Your Eyes in december as well. I've never actually heard a set from this guy but going by those 2 tracks it's going to be awesome. |
